Tuesday night I was on my way to the Junior League of Syracuse holiday party at Pascales downtown and thanks to my handy dandy new GPS, I found my way!
I found a free parking space (cause what’s better than free, right?), and got out of the car.
I started walking. I decided to call BF on my walk to the restaurant downtown where the party was being held.
and I continued walking…. next thing I know… “Umm… where AM I?” I didn’t know. I told BF “I think I’m lost in a bad area… walking.” I knew there was nothing he could do. But I needed him.
And then there were many a groups of sketchy people. I mean, if there is ONE street in Syracuse that people saw “ohhh, don’t go down there” well I was walking there! Alone. At night. By myself. Carrying my pretty new purse with only 20 dollars in cash. And I was scared.
A bus stopped. I took I risk. I ran on to the bus stop and asked a man who was getting off “where is Pascales?”
He looked at me and said “You are FAR from there! Honey, I’ll walk you there!”
I believe in the power of good people! He knew I was alone and vulnerable. He walked me all the way to the restaurant. How incredible!
It’s so nice to see a completely stranger go out of their way for you. It rejuvenated my belief in the kindness we owe each other as human beings. So if you remember nothing else this holiday season (and all year long, really) I hope you remember that random strangers will appreciate your kindness. We owe each other that much, right?
{4. Describe a time or moment when a stranger helped you.}
Oh that was a great luck! Good to hear that he helped you.
Stopping by from Kat's Workshop.
Wow! That was nice. It's like those people in the foreign countries on the Amazing Race who say they'll take the racers to their destination. I always wonder if people here would be as friendly. Maybe they would!
What a grest story. It completely overwhelms me when strangers do things like this because it is not the status quo!
i love it when strangers surprise you and are kind. great story.
Wow! How scary!!
It's nice and refreshing to find some nice people!!
That would be very scary. That was really nice of that guy to walk with you all the way.
Visiting from writer's workshop.
Seeeee…some people just really are great! He'll get it back, keep that good karma flowin'. 🙂
This post made me smile 🙂 What a kind, good-hearted person he must be!
Wow. That seriously says a lot about a person. There definitely aren't many people like that these days. 🙁
There seriously are some SHADY parts of Syracuse! You have to be careful. I'm really glad you found someone nice to help!
Wow, that was nice of him! Where is Pascales?
Found you from Mama Kat….what a great story. I am a big believer in the goodness of people.
Yikes, I hate being caught in those situations but yay for a few good people out there.
just when you think good people no longer exist…
