Weekly Mantra //

This week I have my 6-week postpartum follow up visit with my OBGYN. Technically I’m not 6-weeks yet… but we are close! And besides that, right now life is a continued transition. Nothing more; nothing less.

I’m grateful for my tribe: those people — family, friends, and online friends — that keep me sane. ♥ And as insanely silly as this sounds, I’m so incredibly grateful for the teeny things in that my husband does for me that could be mistaken for “no big deal.” But truthfully? They are a huge deal. Things he goes out of his way to do for me… like going to the store to get bottles; and turning the night light & noise machine on in the room before I get ready for bed; and bringing me home my favorite snack food from the grocery store. It may seem silly, but it seriously means so much more than any grand gesture.

I’m content knowing that Miss Remy Bea is healthy and gaining weight, even though she is a tad bit colicky.

I wish for continued health in our teeny family this week. There are a number of bugs going around and I’d really like it if we could avoid them. Also universe? It would be great if Remy Bea would take a bottle. I mean, we have, like, 7 different kinds that we are trying. It would be fabulous if she would latch onto one of them.

Happiness is at least 5 hours of sleep — 3 of which are consecutive. A girl can dream, right?

Mantra of the week:

In the depths of the colicky darkness, I need to remember this.

Have a great week, friends! xo

I don’t think it’s silly for those things to be meaningful at all. It’s the small every day parts of life so easily overlooked or taken for granted that we *should* cherish.

As for the bottle issue. You may have already tried this, but I know with some of my daycare babies that were breastfed, they WOULD NOT take a bottle if their mama was anywhere around. They ate like a champ with a bottle all day long for us though. It was like they were holding out for the “real deal” if the breast was in range, but if it was gone and they had no choice? The bottle was no issue at all. Maybe you need to be out of the house for her to agree to it? Doesn’t help if you’re trying to share nighttime feedings, but maybe if she got used to it when you weren’t there, she might start taking it when you are? Who knows…babies are weird and stubborn little people sometimes. 😉
