I love weekends where nothing is going on — the kind where we don’t have to plan around some big event. It doesn’t happen often, but it happened this weekend!
So Friday night we decided to go to an Akron Aero’s minor league baseball game. We love minor league games because a) they’re easy to get to (unlike going to see an Indians game in Cleveland), and b) they’re cheap {or even on occasion, free!}. The one thing I don’t like about the Aero’s games is how scrunched together all of the seating is. I never noticed it before, but that’s probably because I wasn’t pregnant before! Holy smokes — so uncomfortable. We only stayed through the 7th inning, but that was enough for my preg-behind! 🙂
Saturday I slept in. LOVE! We hit an early lunch at The Rail, a locally sourced burger restaurant in Akron. I really love their food burgers. Especially the Local Yokel — a burger with swiss cheese, Ohio thick cut bacon, and a fried organic egg, with a side of their skinny fries.
After lunch, we went to pick up our very first CSA bag from Fresh Fork Market. So far, we love it! Not only did we get a huge variety of veggies & fruit, but it also included a whole 5-pound chicken, and a pound of delicious fresh pasta from Ohio City Pasta. In love with this CSA!
We spent the rest of the day doing some serious house-cleaning and yard work. After we had our roof done & painted the house last summer, we tore out all of the old {and probably original} landscaping. We planned on putting in all-new landscaping later this summer {after we put our privacy fence in} but our neighbor, who’s a landscaper, got us a really good deal on beautiful new trees & flowers. We didn’t plan that I would be pregnant and unable to really assist with the digging and planting… so Chad had to do most of it himself.
It’s still a work in progress. We had a hotter than usual type of weekend around here. And it turns out that our ground is like a solid clay, not dirt. So Chad busted his butt to dig this weekend in crazy heat. It will be finished and I’ll post a complete reveal later!
Sunday has been spent finishing up wedding projects, visiting Babies R Us {surprise, surprise} for a few items, stopping by Target, and watching movies that make me cry {cough, cough — Life As We Know It!}.
What kept you busy this weekend?
Amanda
We did a little camping this weekend, which was fun but man was it hot! I was happy to sleep in my own bed last night for sure!
