weekly-mantra-button-1

This weekend Ari [kind of] napped! Thank you, Mimi, for your incredible grandma wisdom and patience. The weekend with Babycakes was actually tolerable [at least until Sunday when you left].

This week I’m going to make sure to hit up Caribou Coffee one last time before they shut down every one of their Ohio stores. Perhaps they’ll have some closeout sales?? I’ve got to find a silver lining in this somehow!

I’m excited to have a four-day work week! Last week was a rough week for me. I’m praying that a short week means an emotionally easy week. Fingers crossed.

I’m addicted to watching Ari on the baby monitor. Watching his little body move up and down when he breathes? It’s super heartwarming. I just keep imagining + remembering that little baby I dreamed about, kicking and moving inside my belly months ago!

I wish for wonderful weather this week — especially for the Indians game Saturday. Also? Thank you to @TracyTilly for introducing me to insteadofawesome.com.

I’m happiest to keep only supportive people closest to me. The others? They’re neither important nor unimportant.

So What! Wednesday

Linking up with the fabulous Shannon from Life After I Dew to say SO WHAT if…

  • the Yo Gabba Gabba! Pandora station is likely to be my newest most-listened-to station.
  • I used to be the puppy mom who posted non-stop pictures of her dog; but now I’m the girl who posts non-stop pictures of her baby. #sorryImnotsorry.

  • I just used a hashtag on some place other than twitter.
  • my exciting life consists of Real Housewives of Whatever + in bed by 8:30. Be jealous.
  • I officially understand why people have second children. There. I said it. But, no, that does not mean that I am ready for a second baby. Ari is at that age where he is sweet and kind and adorable.
  • the above being said, I learned my lesson with puppies. I felt the same way about Oscar Puppy and that made me want to get Pepper. Well, Pepper is a little hooker. So I know that a second child may be better in theory than in reality.
  • I’m already a thousand percent ready for the weekend. Even if that means I have to make it through a dentist appointment tomorrow. Ugh.

This weekend we traveled back to Amish country [where we both grew up] to have lunch at a Chinese restaurant with Chad’s family. It was a lot of fun seeing everyone. And Ari was so smiley and happy! We’re always nervous he’s borderline meltdown when we go out to eat.

But Sunday was a whole other story. Chad and I both made it to the gym [which was empty — hooray for everyone spending the holiday with family instead of the gym! Gave us a lot more time to #getfit!]. And then Crazy Baby came to town. Exhaustion + teething + downright refusal to nap. Ugh!

This week it’ll be the same ol’, same ol’ at work. But Thursday morning I have a dentist appointment, and hence a half a personal day. So it should break up my work week enough to keep me sane. Too bad I’m terrified of the dentist! 🙁

I’m excited to have scheduled a date day for this Saturday! Our sitters’ high school-aged daughter has been practically begging to watch Ari — which is awesome, cause really we’re due for another date. Here we come, West Side Market!

I’m addicted to the post-workout high! Seriously. And because of it, I’m committing to hitting the gym hard this week!

I wish that Ari would sleep through the night. Or that I can learn to survive with broken sleep.

I’m happiest on days when Babycakes has napped sufficiently. True story.

Linking up with the fabulous Shannon from Life After I Dew yet again to say SO WHAT if…

sowhatidew_zps90902df1

  • I’ve been too distracted by work to pay any attention to social media.
  • it took me a full 2 weeks to fold & put away 3 loads of laundry. Finally this past weekend I finished [thanks, mom, for the help!].
  • the main reason I’m itching for Spring to arrive is for running outside, walking Babycakes in his stroller, and visiting the farmers market. But I’m truly in no hurry for summer!
  • I seriously don’t know if I can remain friends with people who do not support marriage equality. There. I said it. Their hate is unjustified and equal rights is something I’m too vocal about to be able to remain friends with these people.
  • my biggest hurdle in getting to the gym in the early morning is debating whether or not I’d rather bring Ari to bed and snuggle for a few hours instead. Gosh, I love that kid!

weekly-mantra-button-1

This weekend my parents visited from Kentucky. My mom hasn’t seen Ari since January, and my dad was moving the remainder of our belongings from my childhood home. Yep, two weeks after they put it on the market — and one year after they moved to Kentucky — their house in Ohio sold! It’s bittersweet. It’s the home I grew up in, but my parents are making a new life in Kentucky. It is, in fact, just a house! Right?

Oh! And last night I had my first solo-parent overnight experience. Chad had to travel to Columbus for work today and we were supposed to get some snow, so I encouraged him to head down early. Also, I wanted to make sure I could handle Babycakes and the dogs for myself. If only to prove to myself that I’ve got this! And it was successful [if we’re defining successful by the fact that we’re both still alive.].

This week work will be the same old thing; but lately I’m happier and happier for the weekends. Family time is my absolute most favorite thing ever [even if Babycakes tends to be a bit cranky on the weekends].

I’m excited for Spring. We’ve had a super mild winter by Northeast Ohio standards. But on the first day of Spring, craptastic weather hit our area. And it’s supposed to be cold and snowy for this entire week. Ughhh. Spring, where are you?

I’m addicted to Gossip Girl. For no reason. Seriously. It’s awful. But I’ve been watching it while I pump at home and at work [hooray for Netflix on my iPhone!]; and it’s terrible. But in a mindless, trashy, ok kinda way. PS. Where is more Pretty Little Liars when I need it?

I wish work served Starbucks coffee instead of Maxwell House. Yuck! I just can’t do it; I just can’t drink crappy coffee.

I’m happy when I have a few minutes at the end of a long day to snuggle up with my husband. And I’m equally as happy to have a few minutes of time to myself at the end of a workday. Time with the hubby + alone time are so important!

I’m linking up with Shannon from Life After I Dew to say SO WHAT if…

  • I can’t manage to stay awake after 9pm. Even on a weekend. Last weekend I went to bed at 8PM one night and 7:30PM the next. Exciting lives we are living, y’all.
  • I’ve been going into work without makeup and mostly disheveled lately. I don’t even care that my hair is wet. I know that I’ll feel better all day if I put a little more effort into it. But. I just can’t.
  • I laugh when Ari makes his pouty face. It’s hard not to laugh cause he looks hilarious and pathetic. It’s cute!
  • it’s been a struggle to sit down at my computer at home after being tied to my computer for what feels like 24/7 during the work day.
  • I’m still wearing maternity jeans. First off, they are so cute you would never know [thanks, Gap Maternity!]; Second, I refuse to buy clothes while I’m losing weight. I’ve got my eye on my favorite pair of skinny jeans. I will see you again soon, friend.
