So What! Wednesday

I’m linking up with Shannon from Life After I Dew to say SO WHAT if…

sowhatidew_zps90902df1

  • I’m genuinely appalled by the idea of the new murder mystery show premiering on ABC. As a family victim of murdered relatives, the idea of murder mysteries disgusts me. I hold the belief that if it’s unacceptable to hold a “rape mystery” then it should be equally as unacceptable to hold a “murder mystery.” Classless.
  • we have our meals planned out for the next 7 days and sometimes I still end up saying “what are we having for dinner tonight?”
  • my one wish would be to never wear a bathing suit again. Post-baby bodies are not for the faint of heart!
  • I’ve been obsessing over this Kid President video. OMG. He is to die for!
  • I woke up 10 minutes before I had to leave for work this morning. Guys, I was only EIGHT minutes late for work! That’s amazing considering I had to pump before I dropped Ari off at the sitter.

  • I finally was beginning to feel better about my post-baby body. Well, until I put on a bathing suit for Ari’s swim lesson. After that? Yeah, not so much.
  • I’ve been singing the Bedroom Intruder song for days. It gets stuck in my head and will.not.leave. I’m sure my coworkers are less than thrilled with me.
  • I yelled at my mom via Facebook for posting a link to an article called “16 reasons to have daily sex.” We’re cool. But we’re not so cool that I want my mom to talk about sex on FB. Come on, Mom!!
  • I’m totally obsessed with yoga. I seek out that post-yoga high! Can’t get enough.
  • my heart exploded with love during Ari’s first swim lesson yesterday! This kid!!

  • I have this feeling of “It’s only Wednesday!?” and “It’s already Wednesday?!” that I just can’t break free from right now. Worst.
  • I’ve been a ‘single mom’ this week. Chad has been, to his dismay, working crazy hours. And it’s been a bummer. Ari has been pretty easy to deal with, but it’s no bueno without my partner in crime around.
  • 10PM is a “late night” for me. It is what it is. I’m just old. And a mom. Oy!

  • last night I called “dinner” some rice with a side of pineapple slices. It was delicious!
  • the above statement could lead some people to think I’m pregnant. I’m not. I just have odd tastes.
  • my Instagram pictures are nearly completely of Ari. The kid is too freakin’ cute, if I do say so myself!
  • I got dressed up for work yesterday and everyone said something about it — coworkers, the barista at Starbucks, etc. Which means I normally look like a hot mess.
  • the other day I actually went into work without brushing my hair because Ari woke up late and we rushed out of the house. So I guess I shouldn’t really be surprised that the barista at Starbucks told me I looked great when I actually got dressed + brushed my hair. Ha.
  • my post-pregnant belly makes me super self conscious still. I’ve never really had an issue with weight before so it’s difficult to have a long journey to lose it all. Can’t it just come off overnight?? Ugh!
  • my life is now complete knowing I can regularly order a Trenta Iced Coffee. That’s right — bigger than a Venti. Sign this caffeine addict up!!

{ weekly mantra }

Removing expectations. This. My mantra for the week.

Ya know, I spend a lot of time setting myself up for disappointment. I place such high expectations on myself, my husband, my coworkers, my friends, etc.

And it’s not fair to anyone.

And it’s not going to change overnight. I’m always going to be my harshest critic; but just by acknowledging this will help me to get over myself just a teeny bit.

So this week I’m removing expectations of myself in all aspects of my life.

I’m excited because we have very few plans for the next couple of weeks. I know it won’t stay that way, but for now, I’m basking in the idea of not having anything to do.

I’m addicted to doing laundry. Sounds great, right? Except for the fact that I absolutely, 100%, hate to fold the clean clothes and put them away. Which means we just have piles of clean laundry all around our house.

I wish for a successful work week for both Chad & myself. Chad has been working a bit of OT, which is great, but leaves Ari + I at home by ourselves for a little while — also fine — but I worry for Chad being too tired/overwhelmed by work.

I’m happy when I’ve slept well and worked out. Both of these things = an awesome day for me, regardless of what else the day throws at me.

  • my anxiety and stress have been driving me batty this week. I’ve had a rough few days. And I’ve been apologizing to all of those who have to put up with me.
  • my to-do list is growing by the minute. I can’t seem to get anything accomplished. Or remember anything long enough to write it down and stay organized. I’m losing my mind, y’all. I’ll remember I have an appointment and when I go to grab paper to write it down, I cannot for the life of me remember what it was.
  • Netflix will be the death of my spare time. I am watching one complete TV series after another! And The L Word is now in my queue! Score! Can’t wait to watch it from start to finish again! [PS. Yes one of my fave shows of all time is a Showtime Lesbi-drama! Haha! It’s like the L Gossip Girl].
  • Chad + I are now those people who “ooh” and “ahh” over every single thing our baby does. And we scream it from the rooftops [also known as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter]. I know it’s annoying, but #SorryI’mNotSorry
  • I am having Etsy withdrawls. If I can’t get crafty myself, I want to purchase everyone else’s craftiness. I haven’t made an Etsy purchase in ages, but I think I’m due. I just don’t know if I can decide on one thing!

  • I slept with Ari in the spare bed the other night because I could swear he wasn’t breathing. The sitter told me that I’m just not used to him sleeping. He’s usually so restless. So I hardly slept at all.
  • I’m incredibly confused by the season premiere of Mad Men. Soooo WTF just happened?? As a Mad Men fan, I feel like I just got suckered in to watching 2 hours of complete nonsense.
  • the nice weather we’ve been having is making me [even more] anxious to get into my pre-baby clothes. Eighty degrees yesterday?? Fantastic.
  • I’m really excited to have a Bradley Method class reunion tonight. I may not have had the completely natural delivery I was preparing for, but the knowledge I gained during those 12 weeks was astounding.
