etsy pregnancy wish list

December 1, 2015 by Rachel 1 Comment

I am so excited winter is on it’s way! I know, I know… I’ve said that a lot recently. But even saying it ONCE, for me, is completely out of character! I told Chad that the sole reason I’m so excited this winter is knowing that I won’t have to drive in winter weather often [thanks, Baby Girl + maternity leave!]. But also because that means I can stay bundled up at home, complete with hot chocolate and Netflix, on the couch. Oh, no… I know it won’t be a vacation. I realize that I’ll also be responsible for keeping TWO children alive. But still. In those moments when Moosh is asleep and I’m nursing a baby, I’m going to enjoy that Netflix and hot cocoa!

I’ve also comprised a “Holiday Etsy Maternity/Postpartum Wish Lists” of sorts… [for anyone looking to buy me something — LOL!]

A non-traditional nursing cover/infinity scarf.
Like this one from etsy shop Kismet Love Collection.
Seriously. They are adorable. And they are scarves!
Gah! I’m in love.

kismet

Baby Girls’ Coming Home Outfit.
I realize absolutely zero people will see this in real life,
but lord knows I’ll be posting it on instagram, right? Ha!
This one from Adorned Baby Boutique is adorable.
I’m not big on pink, but gold? Heck yes. Give Baby Girl all the gold!

itsahero_cominghome

A Birthing Gown for the hospital.
I know it seems super shallow, but I honestly got one for my L&D with Ari.
And it was way more comfortable than the hospital gown.
It was plain black, but perhaps I want to go a little bit more frilly for Baby Girl? Ha.
This one from Stork Apparel is cute, but not overly girly.

itsahero_birthgown

Super Comfy Warm Socks.
‘Cause January is going to be mega cold, y’all.
And even though I’ve been hot-blooded this pregnancy,
I know that as soon as this baby comes, I’ll be cold. Again.
And these socks from Fir Tree Knitwear are adorable AND wool!
Swoon!

itsahero_warmsocks

Reusable Nursing Pads.
With Moosh I used these silicone reusable nursing pads.
They were horrible. If my boobs leaked, they would itch uncontrollably.
So this time I want fabric reusable pads.
And these handmade nursing pads from Marleys Monsters are cute and inexpensive!

itsahero_nursing

A Giant Warm Robe.
Cause, winter + nursing.
And this robe from Wrapped In A Cloud looks SO warm and cozy.

itsahero_robe

An Oversized Sweater.
Do you notice a theme here? Big, comfy, and warm?
Yep. Give me all the big, comfy, and warm.
I wish I could afford this giant sweater from Rose Unique Style.

itsahero_sweater
I’m just loving all of this stuff. And I know none of it is necessary to have, but gosh would it be nice to be warm and cozy after Baby Girl is born! ♥

because it’s been a week now…

September 10, 2015 by Rachel Leave a Comment

One of the main reasons I was so anxious to find out if we were expecting another little boy or our first baby girl, was because I want to either: a. pack all of our boy stuff up (I’m not ready to part with it yet), or b. look for all new awesome girl stuff.

Sooo obviously you know what I’ve been up to over the last week. The search is on! And as much as I truly adore boy clothes (seriously they are SO cute), there are some equally adorable girl clothes. Bonus? I tore through my bins of clothes to find the baby girl clothes I hid away about 13 years ago! 🙂

But here are some things on my “Baby Girl Wish List” right now (because let’s be real… it’s going to grow).

Hello World
This Hello World newborn gown.
From Etsy shop ShopVivaLaGlitter.

feed me
This Feed Me + Tell Me I’m Pretty outfit.
From Etsy Shop Three Sweet Limes.

blanket
This Personalized Name Blanket.
From Jennifer Ann. carters

This completely unrealistic Faux Fur Vest.
From Carters.

goldleaf

This Gold Leaf Headband.
From Etsy shop WildJuniper.
And pretty much everything else in this shop.

Aaaand this is just the start of my wish list. I can see it just growing and growing over the next several months.

weekend wrap up // Holiday Flea 2014

November 26, 2014 by Rachel Leave a Comment

This past week has been one of the most challenging weeks of my life (for reasons I’d prefer to not get in to). But this weekend something magical happened. I SURVIVED. Okay. So that may seem dramatic; but it’s true.

Friday Moosh and I had a playdate; but before we made it to our playdate we had errands to run and running to, well, run. So off to the gym we went! I better get used to that indoor track, because I have a LOT of miles to put in for training on that track.

Our playdate was fantastic. Moosh got to catch up with an “old friend,” while I caught up with her mommy, Emily! (We were in Bradley Method classes together and she happens to live just down the street). The rest of the day was spent in survival mode.

w1 And playing with trains. Obviously. Because that’s what having a toddler boy entails. Oh, and putting your cereal/snack in the trains and “driving” them all over the house. Real life, folks.

Saturday was business as usual. Which literally means business. Playing for Moosh. And more survival mode for me.

But Sunday was an entirely different story. Even though Moosh went to bed SUPER late Saturday night, he still ended up waking up at 6 AM Sunday (totally unlike him) screaming “MOMMY!!” at the top of his lungs. Totally, totally bizarre. So I brought him into bed with me for some extra snuggle (and hopefully sleep?) time. Which was totally cute. He lied down on my pillow and made me snuggle him close; he grabbed my face so it was against his; and it melted my heart.

… until he decided to leap off of the bed. Seriously. We have co-slept before and NEVER has he fallen off the bed. He was OK, just a bit shaken up. He told me he was scared (how freaking adorable).

So yeah. I ended up missing my group run(s). But it was worth it because it meant snuggle time with Moosh. And any day without an alarm is a good day. Even if that means being awoken by a screaming toddler.

Post-snuggling/falling off the bed, Moosh and I headed to the Cleveland Flea Holiday Market. I know I’ve talked about #TheFlea before, but this is NOT your moms flea market. No, no, no. It’s serious hipster business. And Moosh fits in like a boss. I’m fairly certain he was the only 2 year old in a baby-carrier (cause he still fits) wearing a fox hat.

Moosh-wearing was fine by me because: 1.) It means serious snuggle time with him; 2.) It means I don’t have to chase him around a crowded market.

and the agrarian collective booth.) cleflea (Clockwise from upper left:

felt flower bouquets)It was the perfect afternoon of fun. We walked away with full bellies, full hearts, lots of hugs with vendor friends, and a few Christmas presents! Success!

When we (finally) made it home, Moosh went down for a nap-ish… That really means he talked to his toys in his crib. Ha. I happened to sneak in an unexpected run. I wasn’t going to go for a run, but decided at the last minute. It must have been perfect timing because as soon as I started I, quite literally, RAN into my friend Emily (THE Emily of Friday’s play date)! I so needed to run into her because she motivated me on a rather lackluster afternoon. I finished out her run with her and kept on going. Exactly what I needed at exactly the right time!

Baby Ari’s Yo Gabba Gabba 1st Birthday Bash!

October 21, 2013 by Rachel 8 Comments

ygg
TGIO! Thank goodness it’s over! Ha ha! But seriously, I planned and planned for that party like it was my job! The weather was terrible, but that didn’t stop us from having a great time.

1st birthday set up 1

1st birthday set up 2-1

I’m short on words today because I’m beyond exhausted (still). Sorry (#notsorry) this post is a bit heavy on the pictures!

1st birthday set up 3-1

1st birthday set up 4-1

I made the DJ Lance Rock Boomboxes by taping print-outs from Nick Juniors website to individual animal cracker boxes. And I made the Muno chocolate covered pretzels myself.

1st birthday set up 5-1

And the yellow popcorn boxes were purchased from WholesalePartySupplies.com. The characters were printed out from Nick Junior and glued on. Lots of hours went into these projects!

1st birthday set up 6-1

I ordered his smash cake (above) from Pure Delite. It was vegan + gluten free! Also made with half the sugar of a traditional cake. My mom made all of the cupcakes, which were also gluten free, but not vegan. I figured if Babycakes was going to eat cake, it better be the most healthy cake possible!

1st birthday set up 7-1

I bought the yellow pails from WholesalePartySupplies.com as well. The Plex eyes were printed from the Nick Jr website, glued on by yours truly! Chex mix = Plex Mix for the win!

1st birthday set up 8-1

I purchased the PDF for these name tags from etsy shop Reddish Orange and printed them at Staples. If you’re familiar with Yo Gabba Gabba, you know the “Hi My Name Is Rachel… and I Like To Dance!” Ha!

1st birthday set up 9-1

I bought the popcorn from Metropolis Popcorn here in Akron. They have tons of flavors and I am obsessed! Of course I had to get something colorful for the party, but I don’t actually think the kids cared either way. Popcorn is popcorn, right?? 🙂

1st birthday set up 10-1

1st birthday cake 3-1

1st birthday cake 2-1

1st birthday cake 1-1

And yeah, I may have made my husband dress up as DJ Lance Rock for the party (found at WholesalesPartySupplies.com). I even found a striped shirt to “dress up” as Brobee! Ha!

Most perfect 1st birthday ever! I know he’ll never remember it, but I always will. Just like I’ll always remember these first 12 months with Ari, forever and always. And during the party I was proclaiming “I’ll never do a party like this again!” who am I kidding!? I totally will!

We were so grateful to all of the friends and family who came out to celebrate with us!

the cleveland flea // exploring locally

July 27, 2013 by Rachel 2 Comments

I had been hearing about the Cleveland Flea from everyone and their brother for the last couple of months. So I marked my calendar for this past July 13th — in pen! I was NOT going to miss it.

The July 13th Cleveland Flea was held at Sterle’s Country House — a Slovenian restaurant located in the St. Clair neighborhood of Cleveland. One of the coolest things about the Flea is that the location changes every month; it’s always at a different historic location in Cleveland.

slider-sterles

It’s not at all what you think of when you hear “flea market.” The Cleveland Flea hosts local vendors of all kinds — vintage and re-purposed items; food trucks; artisanal food vendors; and local crafters and shops.

I was beyond excited to see local vendor, Hello Fizz. Especially since I had recently ordered their Ohio Pub Glasses on Etsy. When I mentioned that to the vendor, she said she remembered shipping my order and asked if the glasses arrived safely & in tact! I assured her they did and that I couldn’t wait to purchase more items from them in the future!

I didn’t have a chance to try the ice pops from Popsmith, but they’re definitely on my must-try list! And even though I was completely full from lunch at Wholly Frijoles, I did manage to try a sample of the Chicken & Waffles ice cream from Mason’s Creamery. I love love LOVE creative and savory ice cream flavors. It was so delicious!

photo (13)

Some other favorites were Rising Star Coffee, where I ordered some super refreshing iced coffee; Ape Made screen printed products, where I purchased adorable Ohio coasters; and mystache, where literally the only thing they sell is mustache pillows. Of course, I had to purchase one. For Ari. 😛

I love exploring Northeast Ohio and I really feel like this is event is not to be missed! The next Cleveland Flea is August 10th. I’ve marked it on my calendar. Hope to see you there, too!

*Note: Most images (aside from the Hello Fizz, Mystache pillow, and Masons Creamery menu) were borrowed from the Cleveland Flea website.
