Hello It’s A Hero readers: Alicia from Poise in Parma here, helping to keep an eye on Rachel’s blog while she’s away. When you find yourself over at my blog, you learn I’m a full-time event planner, part-time yoga teacher, a #crazydoglady – so in my spare time I’m always up for some fun, and prefer it involving a good workout!
I’m also a proud Clevelander. Born, raised and educated, the Northeastern Ohio area has treated me well and that’s why I’ve chosen to live smack in the middle of it all. But since my girl Rachel is a bit further south, I thought why not share my favorite fitness activities between the 216 and the 330 that should have everyone driving up and down I-77.
#ALLTHEYOGA
Surprise, surprise that I would start with my love, but it’s great to be able to share that there are plenty of yoga studios in our area. My new obsession is playing with lululemon’s OM finder, an app that helps to find yoga studios near you. (Or you can just come visit me at Nishkama Yoga in Independence – just sayin’! I also dig the classes at Yoga Bliss in the Fairlawn area.)
TOW THE LINE PATH
If you have found yourself looking for an outdoor path to explore, you probably have already found yourself to the Towpath Trail as it goes through Cuyahoga, Summit, Stark and Tuscarawas counties. Formally known in certain sections as a portion of the National Park Service, I have spent many hours enjoying its historic route on bike and on foot. I could do a guest post alone on all of its features, but this time I’ll highlight the Towpath Trilogy, a collection of races held by the Ohio Canal Corridor.
BIKE CLEVELAND
Looking to take your biking around Greater Cleveland to a new level? Check out Bike Cleveland’s listing of resources. By visiting their site, I just learned that Bike To Work Day is Friday, July 26! And I’ve been hearing exciting things about the fairly new Cleveland Velodrome: they are hosting an open house at their Broadway Avenue (in Cleveland) location on August 17.
RUN IT OUT
Northeastern Ohio is an excellent place to be a runner. But you don’t know where to start? I say head to one of our highly respected running stores. Vertical Runner is one of my favorites with storefronts in both Brecksville and Hudson. Both Second Sole and Fleet Feet have locations everywhere! Looking for a bit more interaction on the South side? Check out the Summit Athletic Running Club. Their offerings of races include a very fun New Year’s Eve race in Stow (but watch out for its hilly course!)
SO WHAT DID I MISS BETWEEN CLE AND AKRON? Leave it in the comments below! Thank you Rachel for letting me borrow your blog for a post – I hope to see you all over at Poise in Parma very soon!
