snoopy frames and stylish dreams.

I’ve recently started wearing reading glasses in addition to my contacts. Why? Because I can’t see with my contacts and reading glasses appear to help. People who have known me all of my life have been telling me how good i look in these glasses. Even earlier, I was in a store and the cashier was talking to me… mid sentence she stopped and said “You just look SO cute in those glasses.”

So this would be awesome. Except for the fact that I’ve worn glasses since I was one year old. No joke. I had eye surgery at six months, moved on to some fab eye patches (arggg!) and by one was in my first pair of plastic Snoopy frames.

{Me, circa 1989}

I was teased ALL my life for my glasses. I have a pretty rare eye condition so my glasses have always been super thick. When I was 12 I somehow convinced a very hesitant old eye doctor to give me my first pair of contacts. The ridicule had to stop at some point, right? Well, it turns out the same people who would say “wow your glasses are SO thick” are now commenting on how awesome my new look is.

I don’t know what this is all supposed to mean, but I know that it semi pisses me off {only semi though, cause I’ve got to admit, these new glasses are kinda rockin’.}.

    I think you looked cute. Then again, I've had glasses since like 12. And, mine are super thick, too!

    I have kind of the same thing with my hair. It's naturally pretty curly and I used to get teased a lot about it, so I straighten it pretty obsessively now. But now on the days I'm lazy and leave my hair curly, people compliment it like crazy, even the same people who teased me years ago.

    Anyways, I gave you a silly little blog award that might cheer you up. You can check it out here. 🙂 http://simplyvalorie.blogspot.com/2010/06/getting-down-and-dirty.html

    yeah that would definitely be something hard to get over. i'm always self conscious about my ears (hence i think one of the contributing factors to my non pierced ears).

    but i say yay to glasses, i've only started wearing them for driving lately and i sort of love them.

    OMG…how did I miss this post?? For starters…I am sure you do look adorable in your glasses. But I totally understand the reason this pisses you off. I know you didn't feel it at the time, but you are SO STINKING CUTE IN THIS PICTURE!!! Glasses, suspenders and all 🙂
