I have always been a big fan of hummus. And I’ll never forget the first time I had roasted red pepper hummus. I was hooked on that extra kick! At one point, my husband and I were going through container after container of hummus. It turns out that roasted red pepper hummus is actually pretty easy to make. Plus? Way more affordable when you’re making it at home versus buying it at the store.

What You’ll Need
In addition to the ingredients, you’ll need to have a food processor. I prefer using a Vitamix because I have found that it blends better. But if a Vitamix doesn’t work for you, a regular food processor is fine. But, if you have been interested in the Vitamix, just know this: they offer an INCREDIBLE warranty (we’ve used it). And they are made right here in the United States (headquarters in Ohio!).

Here’s what else you’ll need:
- 15 ounces of canned garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained, or homemade
- 2 ounces of roasted red bell pepper – home roasted or jarred
- 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons of tahini
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon of ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 4 tablespoon of olive oil
- Garnish with chives, paprika, cracked pepper
Serve with pita bread, mini naan dippers, or your favorite veggies. And, if you need a recipe on how to roast red peppers, here’s my favorite! It’s so easy.
