oh baby! 40 weeks!

How far along? Today is my due date! 40 weeks! Officially 10 months and completely 100% full term!

How big is the baby? At this point, who knows. But it continues to baffle me that I will not be giving birth to an alien. Seriously. I’ve only recently come to terms that my baby doesn’t look like the early fetus images I used to look at. He now looks like a person! A real, human person!

Total weight gain? I think right around 40 pounds. I stopped asking. And guess what? I don’t care that I gained 40 pounds. That’s right. I said it. i didn’t gain an unhealthy amount of weight, but it wasn’t just 20 or 25 pounds. I know another pregnant blogger was nervous to admit her weight gain because she had previously read of some other girls who barely gained any weight during their pregnancies. So I’m standing up for all of us pregnant girls who gain over 30 pounds! πŸ™‚

Stretch marks? Right around my belly button still. And I found 3 mysterious marks on my left side. Oy.

Sleep: None. I can’t get comfortable. And then I wake up at 4am to organize the closets. Fun.

Movements: Kicking and moving like crazy. And I still feel him get the hiccups daily. Love that feeling.

Food cravings: Root beer still. Luckily we have a Sodastream, so we use it almost daily to make the ‘natural’ root beer {I like mine extra fizzy so that it makes me burp! :)}

Food aversions: Not much these days. I even ate a bit of grilled chicken this week!

What I miss: Breathing through my nose. I caught a cold/flu thing in the middle of last week, and it’s made breathing even more difficult. Baby that hadn’t dropped + congestion = no bueno. Could hardly breathe at all.

What I’m looking forward to: Cleaning the carpets. Today is my first day of maternity leave and I’m looking forward to getting a couple of things done before Baby L makes decides to get this show on the road!

Other notes: Have you ever had to google “Sharp pain in your vagina in the last week of pregnancy“? No? Cause I had to. Turns out that the sharp pain I feel when I sometimes walk is not uncommon. What I read is that a lot of people feel that near the end because it’s the cervix softening. Weird. And then I immediately cleared my google search history.

Since that googling experience, Baby L has ‘dropped.’ Which I could swear I my life that I felt happen. I know it could be argued by mostly everyone that I didn’t feel him actually drop out of my rib cage and into my pelvis, but I’m telling you — when you can hardly breathe and then all of a sudden you feel less-labored breathing — holy smokes! Downside? I seriously sneezed and almost peed myself. Yay for sitting on my bladder more. πŸ™‚

Baby L could make his appearance any day now! Hopefully you’re following me on Twitter, cause I plan to live tweet as much as possible throughout the experience!

    I know that it probably doesn’t seem this way to you, but I feel as though it were just a few weeks ago that you announced your pregnancy. And now here you are, full term and looking fabulous! I’m glad that you’re not worried about your weight gain. One of my good friends has always gained right around 45 pounds with each baby. It’s just how her body works πŸ™‚ And oh my, isn’t it so much nicer when you can BREATHE again?!

    Thank you for your honesty about the weight gain! I was at 32 last week, but I’m pretty sure it’s closer to 33-34 now. I really believe that a lot of bloggers don’t tell the truth here…but maybe that’s just me!

    Anyhow…congrats on making it to 40 weeks!! Hopefully not much longer!! And as far as google goes, I have searched for the CRAZIEST things in the past 9 months. I should probably clear my history too!
