oh baby! 19 weeks.

How far along? 19 weeks, 2 days! ๐Ÿ™‚

How big is the baby? The size of a mango! About 8 ounces and six inches long!

Total weight gain? Not sure at this point. I’m thinking since my last update at 17 weeks, I’ve put on a couple more pounds. I’m definitely showing a little more.

Maternity clothes? Yes. They are so comfortable. I’m not certain what I’d do without them. In a couple weeks, I’m going to hit up some maternity consignment shops to find some cute & cheap clothes. I’ve refused to buy anything but trendy/cute maternity clothes, but they are so pricey!

Stretch marks? Monday night I noticed the dreaded linea nigra — or the dark vertical line down my stomach. It’s… weird. Or, at least, it looks weird.

Sleep: It’s been hit and miss. Chad offered to sleep in the other room a couple of nights last week, just because I hadn’t been sleeping well; and I slept like a baby! I’ve been stretching out and taking over the whole bed, so I’m pretty sure we both needed a night in our own, separate beds!

Movement: I felt some flutters for the first time on late Saturday night! It felt like… gas! Haha! But I knew it wasn’t {TMI-ish alert… I knew it wasn’t gas because I actually had a gassy stomach at the same time. So my stomach would grumble, and at the same time, I felt some movement higher up! It was so cool!}

PS. I’m not holding anything back during this process. There’s no reason that I shouldn’t be 100% real. I’m asking all the weird/uncomfortable questions to my friends/doctors/etc. There’s no sense in being shy when I’m this exposed, right? ๐Ÿ™‚

Food cravings: Rootbeer, still. And ice cream sandwiches… but not really the ice cream part. I eat them for the chocolate cookie part. I want them without the ice cream but have no idea if they exist {and they are not the same as oreos!}

Food aversions: Chicken still. I almost started dry heaving when Chad ordered chicken fajitas the other night at a restaurant. I started gagging at the table. Ha!

What I miss: Having a glass of wine after work. I realize that there is plenty of time for that later, but there is something so relaxing about hanging out on the couch after work with a glass of red wine. ๐Ÿ™‚ But I’m pretty sure I’ll survive.

What I am looking forward to: Next week we have our 20/21 week checkup. And the following week we have our ultrasound to determine the gender! I’m so so excited! The anticipation is killing me!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Milestones: Feeling the baby move for the first time. Two random strangers have asked me about my pregnancy in public. It’s really strange to me because to me, I don’t look “pregnant;” just chubby. I’ve been obsessing looking at pictures of other pregnant women on thebump.com, and they all look like they have well-formed, solid looking baby bellies. Mine looks … squishy. So I think it was pretty ballsy of people to ask me about my pregnancy when I think my baby belly looks more like a beer belly. ๐Ÿ™‚

Alsoย  – I’ve been trying to take cute pictures of my bump, but my skin just looks so horrible that in every picture I look run-down. I’m hoping to take a good picture soon!

    The not being able to drink part of being pregnant scares me….not that I meant to sound like an alcoholic but it is relaxing to come home and have a glass of wine or skinnygirl margarita. I suppose you would get over it eventually.

    Its so refreshing also to read your posts because you are so REAL about this pregnancy deal and not sugar coating things! I love it!!!!!!!!

    I have a mango in my kitchen right now! I looked at it and thought, “That’s the size of Rache’ls baby”, ha ha!

    That’s pretty gutsy of people to ask that in public, but maybe you’re walking a little differently now and that tipped them off. You should have told them you weren’t pregnant and watched for their reaction!

    And I know what you mean about the glass of wine. The culture here in NZ is just a bit more relaxed about that, and my MW actually said that one of her patients told her she “couldn’t have survived” the last 4 weeks of pregnancy without a small nightly glass of wine. Yikes! I waited till Joe was a few weeks old – I was told that it takes 2 hrs and 20 minutes for a standard glass of wine to be reabsorbed from your breastmilk, so as soon as Joe started to go for longer sleeps at night, I would have a small glass of red wine in the evening ๐Ÿ™‚
