It’s been a few weeks since I verbalized my fitness goals {and rewards}. And about a week and a half since I took the plunge.
And, for lack of better words, I’ve been busting my ass.
I’ve been using the Couch 2 5k program religiously over the last 8 weeks. But over the last two weeks, I’ve been running more than the suggested 3-times a week. And yesterday, for the first time before Ari was born, I ran for 30-minutes straight at a 9-minute mile pace.
I was excited, but I wasn’t surprised. I’ve noticed how strong I feel before, during and after my runs lately. I mentioned earlier this week [in fact it was the last time I had a chance to post because I’ve been busy — running!] that I’ve been looking forward to my scheduled runs, and even fitting in unscheduled ones!
So I’ll be purchasing my “I Run This Body” T-shirt reward within the next couple of weeks!
I’ve also accomplished my goal of working out for 7-days straight. Last week I worked out 7 days in a row and it was almost accidental. I’m going to hold off on purchasing my reward until I get another 7-days of working out straight. Cause honestly? The awesome feeling alone is reward enough!
Weight Watchers update: I wouldn’t quite call myself a ‘believer’ yet, but between the workouts and tracking my points, I’m certainly noticing a difference. I lost 5 pounds my first week! There were definitely moments where I felt like I was starving myself [seriously — how many carrots can one person eat??]; but I did allow myself to have the occasional, portion-controlled treat — like a beer, or an iced coffee from Starbucks.
I was allowed 27 points each day; 49 automatic extra points for use at any point during the week; and I earned an additional 88 activity points. I came no where near using all of those points. In fact, I ended up with 62 unused at the end of my first week. I was too nervous of the new [to me] points system to actually allow myself to use them!
I’m proud of my small achievements over the last few weeks. And I’m lucky to have a great support system — like my friends and coworkers who constantly build me up; and my husband who helps me weigh my crab cake to get an accurate point count.
I’m looking forward to getting back my pre-baby body more than ever! And I’m on currently on a hunt for a fun 5k to get back into the swing of races. Suggestions, local friends??
Girl, you GET that top!!!! Yep, you have EARNED it. 🙂 Also – I’m just going to start the C25K program TOMORROW! I’d like to call myself a natural runner, but sometimes I get stuck in a rut. I need more guidance and that program seems perfect. 🙂 I’m proud of you and all you’re accomplishing!!! GET IT GIRL!
yay!! this is awesome!!
Good for you Rachel! Get it girl!
88 activity points?! What workouts were you doing?! I’m slacking on Weight Watchers right now, but I’ve never gotten anywhere close to that!
& congrats on the five-pound loss! 🙂
I was working out + walking an hour with the baby every day. I seriously can’t believe I earned that many point. Hot yoga + running build up a ton! Ha!
5 lbs in one week!? That’s amazing!
I was thinking about doing the Tree City 5K – it used to be a 10K and I did it in 2009. I reallllllly want to get under 30 minutes for a 5K and hope to do so this summer!
