There have been a number of instances over the last several months where I’ve been in the midst of a long (for me) run and I’ve gotten to that point where all I want to do is stop; all I want to do is give up and walk. Or flat out just rest.
And, to my surprise, a random stranger has yelled an encouraging word my way.
One time an older gentleman yelled “Get it, girl!” in the most encouraging tone of.all.time.
Seriously, it was one of those moments that made my heart burst with happiness.
First of all, the choice of words alone, coming from an older man?? Amazeballs.
Second — it was just what I needed to keep going!
And I did! I finished strong, thanks in large part to these kind and motivational
words of a complete stranger.
The rest of the day I couldn’t shake that feeling of being inspired by him.
Remember that you can find motivation in the most random of places.
Better yet?
Try to be someone else’s motivation.
It might be just what they need.
