I’d be lying if I said I’ve been my best self lately. So much of my time has been spent correcting my children and then losing it by screaming and then feeling incredibly guilty. I realize this is a season we’re in — I have a very defiant (strong willed?) two year old and a 5 year old with a serious listening problem.
Add in a 31 week pregnant (aka exhausted) mama, and there’s pure chaos and rage.
So yeah. I haven’t been my best self. But I’m trying. I acknowledge those moments, sometimes apologize to my kids, and we all move on. There’s a learning curve for sure.
But as I scroll through my photos on my phone, I also see something that I often overlook — JOY.
My kids are happy. And, most of the time, I am too.
Here’s what our life looks like in pictures as of late (in completely candid / unfiltered photos):
Looking at these moments brings me so much joy. Knowing that THESE are the moments in which my children will have memories — not the ugly times we’re all throwing fits. So snap those pictures and remember those happy moments, friends. xo

I can only imagine how hard it is to be a mom. I have so many questions about good parenting that I wonder if I could be a good mom.

Love the cute pics! Yes, it’s importamt to focus what us right and now what is wrong! Thanks for the post!

They are so darling – and they look so happy! I feel like we often look at the fewer and farther in between negatives rather than all the positives that God has blessed us with each day. I’m so guilty of it too. But you got this, momma! You have a lovely family!

I think we all struggle with overlooking joy sometimes – I know I do! Thanks for the reminder to enjoy and appreciate the little moments.

I’m not a parent but I can certainly understand the struggle to find the time for everything. It’s important to appreciate the little moments that make up your life. Your children are adorable and it looks like you all had a great time!

Love your positive spin on the daily madness of being a mom. We all need to take time to reflect on all that is going good and not focus so much on the messy.
Stephanie
Such a good perspective. I am such a fan of candid, unfiltered moments!

Yes, motherhood is a challenge for sure! I recall the struggles when my kids were little especially. But I love your attitude in looking for the joy in it. It is totally worth it for sure!

Oh my gosh, that shot of your little one dancing is the best! Thanks for the reminders that sometimes, the simple ‘messy’ pleasures really are the best!

Aww- love this! There is so much joy in raising children – such a sacred act of love!! These little spiritual teachers are just reminding us that joy and Love will conquer all – including those days when we lose it (which mom doesn’t right? Welcome to the mom-dom of being perfectly imperfect). ❤️ Hugs, Evelyn

I totally understand how you feel! I am 36 weeks pregnant and we have a two year old daughter. Some days I’m so grumpy and so miserable and then I look through my phone at pictures like these and find so much joy! Hang in there momma!

Motherhood is not for the weak…its a daily struggle and we all know it oh so well. We definitely need to sit and enjoy the little moments bc they fly by so fast!! I feel like the day to day goes by so slow but when I look back a few months so many things have changed.

Oh man you are killing it though. Motherhood is hard. Today I will choose joy.
