Pittsburgh: Round 2

July 27, 2011 by Rachel 3 Comments

So I warned you we had been busy lately.
This post is about a month or so too late.
Oops. Better late than never!

Two years ago the BF and I took a trip to Pittsburgh
just so that we could go to Primanti Brothers
to try their ginormous sammiches.
They were well worth the trip,
even though my stomach would argue otherwise.

This year we decided to do a little more exploring through
our rival city
Pittsburgh.

On Segways.

Yes, Segways.
We took a 2-hour guided Segway tour of downtown Pittsburgh.
It was so much fun and I learned a lot about the city!

And two hours was just enough time;
cause when I was done, my legs were killing me
from standing on that thing!
{Note: I only fell off once.
Lucky for you, the BF caught it on video.
Lucky for me, I control this blog and will not post that video 😛 }

In a little Pittsburgh mini-tradition for us,
we decided to give Primanti Brothers another shot post-segway-ing.
{I say that like it was awful the first time… it wasn’t. it was amazing.}

{equally as excited in 2011 as I was in 2009}
{Maybe he was more excited this time… 😛 }
We wrapped up round 2 of our Pittsburgh adventure
with a 90-minute trip to Ikea
{which is literally an adventure in itself}.

Pittsburgh = success!

Dora the Explorer + Inception = awesome.

August 19, 2010 by Rachel 4 Comments

If you’ve seen Inception and you like things that are funny, you will love this video.

I can’t stop saying “Verrrry GOOD!” or “ME NEITHER!”

The craziness shows no signs of stopping.

Well we got back from Maine {to Syracuse} late last night. Oscar puppy was thrilled to see us!

Unfortunately today is going to be even busier. Today I run a few last minute errands in Syracuse, pack up our vehicles, and drive the six hours back to Ohio.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m extremely excited, but I aslo cannot stand the thought of spending another day in the car.

Can’t wait to tell you about all the awesomeness that was Maine.

Happy Friday!

The Polar Bear Plunge

February 2, 2010 by Rachel 19 Comments

I survived! I jumped into a freezing river (in negative degree weather – true story) and I survived!

First and foremost, I want to thank the lovely Tracy for inviting me to join her in this fun madness!

And now this plunge can best be summed up with this video: (also, important note: here is your formal introduction to BF! He speaks in this video!)

It was cold, and my crocs fell off, so I had to run barefoot through the snow.

Honestly, after the plunge, the only thing that remained frozen were my toes. I thought it would be a good idea (ha) to change into skinny jeans afterward. The issue? My toes were so frozen, I could hardly fit them through the ankles of the jeans! 😛

going to make this a good week

September 27, 2009 by Rachel 16 Comments

This weekend was really laid back.

I worked out, caught up on sleep and caught up with my HLP.

This week is going to keep me busy — and hopefully be short!

Monday – Have a Junior League of Syracuse training meeting (my first!) from 6 to 8:30 (ends so close to my bedtime!). I’m really excited!

Tuesday – I get to meet one of my favorite bloggers, Sara from Stumbling in Stilletos, and this will also be my first blogger meet up/blogger girl date! 🙂 I’m so excited and nervous!

Wednesday – I will be doing a great deal of packing. And cleaning.

Thursday – I’ll be leaving after work to go back to Ohio. I have Friday off and will be spending the whole weekend with BF cause it’s my birthday weekend!

I’m really excited about things that are happening this week… and about my birthday. Not sure why. It will be my first birthday with BF (note: He and I started talking on my birthday last year… kinda like an anniversary?? — went on our first official date about 2 weeks later).

And before I wish you all a lovely week, I would like to acknowledge a couple of awards I have received as of recent!

The Kreativ Blogger award is from Sara! I’m supposed to tell you 7 things about me that not many people know.

1. I, too, have a phobia of vommit.
2. When I get really hungry I turn into a 3 year old. I get whiny and crabby and I pout like I’m a three year old throwing a fit… Luckily BF knows he just needs to put food in front of me and I’ll be OK.
3. I have taken years of formal vocal training and rarely use it. Except when there’s karaoke, of course.
4. I get really terrible anxiety when in huge crowded places.
5. I don’t really eat cake, but I love cupcakes. Love them.
6. I have nightmares almost every night.
7. I have an addiction to marshmallows.

And my second award is from Jessi at Jessi Bob and the Monsters!

I’m supposed to tell you five things I’m obsessed with right now.

1. I’m obsessed with working out. While this seems like a healthy obsession, I will someday explain to you why this is not.
2. My DVRs. Yes, multiples. I know, I know… I’m living by myself right now, but I get them both for free, that’s the only reason why I have them. And they have been comforting to me while I’m apart from BF.
3. Google Video Chat.
4. Cupcakes. This obsession has been going on for a while. Nothing new. Even though I haven’t had one in a while.
5. Planning planning planning.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
