weekly mantra!

December 27, 2011 by Rachel 3 Comments

{photo}

This week will be
short, but likely busy! Which means it will fly by {thank god!}. And the
BFs cousin is getting married on Saturday evening, so we get to attend
our first ever New Years Eve wedding!

I believe in yoga!

I’m addicted to yoga!

I wish for a week full of laughter.

I’m happy because I can be!

Soundtrack/Mantra for the week: “There is nothing in  your mind you did not invite in.” – a quote from yoga practice at Yoga Bliss in Akron this morning, via the lovely Juli! But I’m not certain whom the quote is from. But I love it. And I need to remember this — we all do!

“Friends can help each other.

A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom
to be yourself — and especially to feel.
Or, not feel.
Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment
is fine with them.
That’s what real love amounts to;
letting a person be what he really is.“

– Jim Morrison

Thank you to all of you.
Especially the BF.
Especially to my supportive family.
And all of my blogger and twitter friends.
Today was super rough.
Not only did I attend the first round
of calling hours for my aunt;
but also I witnessed something I will never forget.

Thank you for your kind words and continued support.

grateful.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. And this Thanksgiving is coming at a really difficult time.

{I know, I know… Thanksgiving comes at the same time every year.
but this year is just getting especially difficult.}

Family. I’ve been super emotional lately {which I guess could be considered early grief} about my aunt, but I should really just take this time to be grateful that I have a truly amazing family. My mom and dad are incredibly supportive and amazing people; my sister and I have been through {and put each other through} a lot together over the years, and I love her so much!

Work. My job has been incredibly stressful. I’ve been coming home in tears, wanting only a bubble bath and a glass of wine; but I’m taking this time to be thankful for the job that I have and the supportive people that I work with. My work family certainly does put the ‘fun’ in dysfunctional, but I like them just the same!

{some ecards. awesomeness.}

The BF. He is aaaaaaaaa-MAZING! He makes everything better. Seriously. So supportive and caring. I don’t know what I’d do without him!

What are you thankful for this holiday season?

mid-week mantra

November 16, 2011 by Rachel 4 Comments

This week I’ve been struggling to keep it all together. I’ve been coming home from work in tears and have been pretty much a nightmare to anyone around me. And it’s not just one thing that’s making me feel this way; it’s just life in general right now.

I believe in myself. And the BF.

I’m addicted to planning our Thanksgiving menu! 🙂

I wish for my family to have strength to get through this. And for them to realize that they may need to back off a little bit.

I’m happy when the house is cleaned, everything is in it’s place, and there are fresh-cut flowers on the counter!

Soundtrack/Mantra for the week:

It is gratefulness that makes the soul great.” – Abraham Joshua Heschel

thank you, weekend.

October 17, 2011 by Rachel 4 Comments

Oh, weekend.
What a blessing you have been!

I’ve been away for a while. Like, a LONG while.
And it has been with a stressed and heavy heart.
I’ve been wanting to nothing but blog, blog, blog.
But life has had other plans for me.
This summer we were incredibly busy with house fix-er-upper projects.
Literally, every weekend for a very long time was
held hostage by long overdue projects.
New roof, new landscaping, staining the house, fixing up rooms.
EXHAUSTING.
Even post-cruise I was exhausted.
Hello, vacation from vacation? Yes please!
But not a real possibility.
This weekend was the first weekend we really had to ourselves in a long time.
Well, I did go into work yesterday for a few hours,
but the rest of it was mine!
I can proudly say that today I didn’t even change out of my pajamas.
True story.
And it was awesome. Like, literally, incredible!
And it was everything I needed to finally get back to myself.
So this week I’ll be back to regular blogging
{and blog-reading!}.
Be ready for lots of pictures!

it’s been a while.

October 14, 2011 by Rachel 5 Comments

Holy. Smokes.
The last few weeks have been flying by!
Since my last post, I’ve celebrated another birthday,
{eeeek! Twenty-seven!}
celebrated my BFFs wedding,
made my first maid of honor speech,
and have had the craziest two weeks ever.

I’ve got a lot of catching up to do.
And a lot of pictures to post!

Hope all is well in blog-land!
