So What! Wednesday

So What! Wednesday

January 9, 2013 by Rachel 5 Comments

I’m linking up with Shannon from Life After I Dew to say…

SO WHAT if…

  • I’m actually happy to be back at work. It makes coming home to that sweet, smiley, face so much more rewarding! SoWhatButton
  • my obsession with the Real Housewives continues. Chad wishes it didn’t and so does our DVR. But it does.
  • I can’t stop thinking about our date night this Friday! I realized that I won’t be able to make it to Ohio Blogging Association’s Karaoke at the Cat on the 18th, so Chad and I decided to go to Noodlecat for a date night this Friday instead. That makes me a happy girl.
  • the only ‘date’ Chad and I have been on since Ari was born was to a noon movie on Christmas day. Noon? Noon is not really a date. Even though at the time I called it one.
  • the two posts I’ve had scheduled for this week didn’t get published. I’ve been feeling a bit feverish and have not had the energy to just finish them up. Health > blogging.
  • our house is a complete disaster. For such a little guy, Ari sure has a lot of stuff.
  • I’ll put up with a messy house just so I can spend an extra few minutes each day watching Ari react & respond to hisย  new toys.

  • there was a day last week where I poured myself a glass of wine before 3PM while Ari was napping. He was freaking the f out all day and I was on the verge of losing my mind. So I had a glass of wine and peppermint ice cream. Don’t judge. Or do. I don’t care.
  • I’m beyond excited to give my work Secret Santa gift on Thursday. My Secret Santa doesn’t know what’s coming ๐Ÿ˜‰ Tee hee hee…
  • I’ve avoided looking at the forecast for the end of this week. We are supposed to get some snowstorm or something Thursday, which could potentially put a serious damper on our travel plans for Friday.
  • I have been stalking down every Starbucks in Northeast Ohio for Christmas Blend K-cups. And I don’t think there are any left anywhere. So I’ve enlisted my mother to stalk down every Starbucks in Kentucky for them. I’m obsessed!
  • I started our Netflix subscription again just for the free trial. Soon enough I’ll be back at work and won’t need it. But right now it’s sure helping me make it through these 3am wake up calls.
  • there are some early mornings where I want coffee at 3am. I have to at least wait until 4:30, but, dang!, it’s difficult some days!

I’m linking up with Shannon from Life After I Dew for a somewhat wordy So What Wednesday.

SO WHAT if…

… the days/weeks/months are flying by. This makes me majorly sad that my maternity leave will be coming to a close just three weeks from today. But I’m also a little okay with going back to work.

Thankfully, we found someone we trust to watch Ari during the day. And I kinda can’t wait to start making some money again and to stop stressing so much about living on one income.

Aaaand I kinda can’t wait to have some adult interaction during the day. Truth!

… I have an unhealthy addiction to the Real Housewives. Being awake at 2:30 AM does things to a persons preexisting addictions. It intensifies them. Hello, tons of coffee + Real Housewives!

… Sunday night TV gives me serious anxiety. Dexter + Homeland = a crazy anxious lady! Sometimes I end up pacing around the living room. Or walking into the kitchen for no reason. They just make me nervous!

… I’ve yet to blog about my fun experience at the #VitamixCLE tweet up from over a week ago. Yeah, yeah. I’m slacking! ๐Ÿ™‚

… yesterday I made Pumpkin Puppy Chow. Yeah, it’s a fall treat. And yes, I planned on making it during October/November. But things didn’t work out that way. And I didn’t feel like waiting another year to finally try it.

It’s definitely yummy + easy. But definitely not healthy.

… it’s taken me 8 weeks to fine my domestic side. I, of course, just found my groove with Ari and being home during the day. And before I know it, I’ll have to adjust again.

… I’m in desperate need of an adult night out. And we’re in the process of scheduling that now. Hooray!

SO WHAT if...

  • I’ve been eying up the registration information for Bloggers in Sin City 2013 for days now, knowing full well that paying $599 right after the first of the year is just simply not an option. Ugh. Talk about setting myself up for disappointment! I should have never even looked up the info.
  • the highlight of my week [thus far] was buying the Starbucks 12 Days of Gifting January tumbler + attending the Vitamix Cleveland tweetup. I’m a simple gal. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • I am in love with this Etsy shop. I’ve yet to purchase anything, but I’m seriously considering the “I’m what happened in Vegas” onesie. If only to make Ari wear it and have people feel uncomfortable with our honesty.
  • coffee has become my only means of surviving the day these last few weeks. I’m definitely struggling with the lack of sleep.
  • my proudest moments the last couple of weeks has been the ability to paint my toenails AND fingernails twice! This seriously feels like a huge accomplishment. However, it takes me days to fold laundry and clean the bathroom. Priorities, people!
  • our pumpkin is still out in the front of our house. I know I should just throw it in the trash bin, but I, again, have priorities… changing my nail polish > throwing away the pumpkin.
  • I’m bummed that I’m too out of shape to do the Santa Hustle in Cedar Point in two weeks. It sounds like so much fun! Perhaps next year ๐Ÿ˜‰

So What! Wednesday

November 21, 2012 by Rachel 8 Comments

It’s been really hard keeping track of what day of the week it is since I’m not working these days. To be honest, I’ve been meaning to post a So What Wednesday for a few weeks, but I kept missing Wednesday. I know, I know… only the ‘problems’ of someone who isn’t working! Ha!

Linking up with Shannon from Life After I Dewย  to say…

SO WHAT if…

  • I only have 5 outfits in ‘rotation’ right now. Nothing fits quite right and nothing feels comfortable yet. So I will continue to wear the same 5 outfits. Over. And over. And over again. Until my old clothes fit.
  • I went a little overboard with the pies this year. My job is to bring Sweet Potato Pie to Thanksgiving tomorrow. But then I tasted a local bakeries Johnny Walker Butterscotch and Pumpkin Pie. Um, our Thanksgiving will not be complete without that tasty goodness. And then I bought a beautiful Apple + Praline pie from another local bakery.
  • I have an addiction with supporting our local restaurants and bakeries who use all fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients [like both bakeries I bought the pies from]. I think more people should have my addiction! ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • I get dressed everyday [in one of the 5 aforementioned outfits] just so that I can run to Starbucks and interact with non-baby civilization for 5 minutes.
  • I can sing every commercial that is on TV. This is what happens when you leave the TV on during the day to create noise in an otherwise quiet house.
  • we aren’t going to put up a Christmas tree this year. We won’t be home for Christmas. Plus, we have two cats who would love to knock it over. So I won’t even bother.
  • I’m not excited about Black Friday. I’m not actually in the market to buy anything AND that means that the shopping area I frequent [like for my daily Starbucks fix run] will be crazy busy until January. And then in January it will be too snowy to actually go anywhere. Blah!

So What! Wednesday

My due date has come and gone! I’ve scheduled this blog post, but I’m guessing that Baby L hasn’t made his appearance yet. My suggestion? Follow me on Twitter. I’ll probably be posting updates throughout the process. Well, at least that’s the plan! ๐Ÿ™‚

In the meantime, I’m linking up with Shannon from Life After I Dew to say…

SO WHAT if…

  • I have a laminated copy of our birth plan and the hospital map in my car. And yes, I laminated them myself. Gone is the worry that I’ll spill coffee or water on our birth plan before we get to the hospital! ๐Ÿ˜› OK. You can judge me now… ๐Ÿ™‚
  • the majority of my weekend was spent on my feet, getting things done. Cleaning, making freezer meals and snacks, organizing, etc.
  • I’ve unsubscribed myself from most of the daily deal emails and sample sale website emails. Not only were they clogging up my Inbox with their once-awesome, now crappy, deals; but the few deals I did want — which come mostly from travel sites — makes me insanely sad. Luckily we’ve traveled a lot over the last few years. But it’s sad to know that those days are in the past for a while.
  • when I walk into Starbucks the baristas say “Still pregnant??” This means: a) I’m there entirely too much if everyone knows me; and, b) people totally expect me to pop at any minute.
  • while waiting my turn at the meat counter in our grocery store the other day, I told the guy next to me to go first. To which he replied “No — you first — you look like you’re about to pop any second!” Listen people: just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean you’ll have to deliver my baby if I don’t get my lunch meat until after you order yours. If so, that would be the fastest labor ever. I’m good, thanks.
  • ย on my first day of maternity leave I sat on the couch with my sick husband and caught up on the DVR. And then I crafted my face off! And it was fantastic! ๐Ÿ™‚
