margarita

true story.

July 28, 2010 by Rachel 5 Comments

BF is out of town for work today and tomorrow. This is pretty much the first time we’ve been apart since I moved back from Syracuse. It’s going to be weird, to say the least, to sleep in a big bed all by my lonesome!

True story.

In an effort to make me feel better about the fact that he was going to be gone
{and so that I wouldn’t fret about what to eat for dinner tonight},
BF took me out to my favorite Mexican restaurant, Mariachi Locos, last night. I will be eating those leftovers tonight! Woo!

True story.

We didn’t realize it was 1/2 price margarita night on Mondays. Bonus!!

True story.

Completely unrelated
{both to the Mexican food and the marg},
I have been getting severely sick lately. Last night I woke up terribly ill around 1:30am with stomach pains until 6 this morning.
I have no idea what is causing me to be in such pain, but something is.

True story.

I went to Trader Joe’s on my lunch break to splurge on some macarons. It was completely worth it. They are delish.

reasons not to love the DMV, or as we call it, the “license bureau,” and that time that I drank a margarita and did mostly nothing.

June 21, 2010 by Rachel 8 Comments

Weekends in summer. What’s not to love? I’m happy to report that we spent our weekend doing mostly nothing. Friday night we had a choice: drive an hour right after work {in rush hour} on {very} short notice to go to a family party, or do as planned: nothing.
We chose the latter. I am thrilled with our decision.
As much as I would love to see my family {most of whom I have not seen since Christmas}, it was less than twenty-four hours notice and we live about an hour south of where the party was to take place.
Plus we were able to make this delicious meal and enjoy eating it outside {with an awesome margarita in my beautiful new glass from my in-real-life friend, Angela, over at the Preppy Polka Dot}!
Saturday my only plan of attack was to head to the DMV, or as we like to call it here in the O-H, the License Bureau {apparently people from other states find this to be amusing}. It was my top priority to first, get my car title changed back to an Ohio title; then to get my vehicle registered with the great state of Ohio and purchase some plates; followed by a nice pose for a little picture for what I like to call my Ohio drivers license.
Of those things the only thing that actually happened was getting the title changed over.
Now I’d like to go on record with a letter to the great state of Ohio via my blog.
Dear State of Ohio License Bureau and Title Agency:

There are many things to which I can overlook. First being the sketchy area in which your offices are located. No biggie. I can look past that {um, I’ve lived in Buffalo.. where everything’s sketchy}. I can also overlook the fact that I was probably the only person in the 30 minute line that showered. Thank goodness it was only 90-degrees out. I can also overlook the grumpiness of your staff. I would be grumpy if I had to deal with those people on my Saturday too.

I, however, cannot forgive the lack of resources on your website. Or the fact that I was there for two hours and all I got was an $18 title to my car and a “please go to the other license bureau” note. Super-de-duper.

xoxo and forever yours,

Rachel at It’s a Hero

PS. At least my boyfriend made you laugh by asking to buy your Tim Couch clock.
Ok, now that THAT’S off my chest, I’ll show you how I spent the remainder of my Saturday:

It’s cool. You’re allowed to be jealous.

That being said, I hope you all had an awesome weekend! And here’s to another weekend in just five short days!

TGIF!

May 15, 2009 by Rachel 1 Comment

For real–thank GOODNESS it’s Friday! I was beginning (umm,… yeah, beginning) to go out of my mind at work.

After work I’m heading to a little Mexican restaurant for some dinner, Margaritas and karaoke with some gals. I’m pumped. I’ve been eating super healthy this week and I’m ready for some unhealthy food and good times!

So much going on

April 24, 2009 by Rachel 2 Comments

There is so much going on within the next few weeks, it’s ridiculous.

-tomorrow BF and I are going to the Indians versus the Twins game. I love going to live sporting events… the energy, the outdoors, the hotdogs, the beer! All make for a wonderful experience! Plus it’s “fireworks” night. BF seemed very excited about this part. And, in theory, I’m excited about this part. There is something cute and slightly romantic about fireworks, I suppose. The only problem is that I am slightly frightened of fireworks. Oh well. I’ll deal with it and just make him ‘keep me safe.’ 😉

-I’m also supposed to hear about the job tomorrow… EEEK. Could make or break me.

-Saturday I am volunteering at the Akron Zoo for their Party For The Planet in celebration of Earth Day. I am handing out information on Earthwatch Ohio, which is a non-profit group focused on sustainable living. I’ve (somehow?) convinced BF to join me. We are supposed to have BEAUTIFUL weather this weekend, so, if nothing else, I will get some sun. 🙂

-Next Friday May 1st, I have Girls Nite with two of my favorites. It’s Margarita Nite at All Fired Up! in Akron. It’s BYOT (Bring Your Own Tequila)! They provide the snacks. We are going to spend the evening drinking margaritas, painting pottery, snacking, and chatting. Sounds pretty fantastic to me! 🙂 I’m very excited.

-Shortly there after (the 13th) is BF’s birthday. I’m not quite sure what I”ll be doing that day, mostly because it’s a weekday and both of our schedules may be pretty hectic.

-Then I will be dropping him and his mother off at the airport. They are going to Denver to visit family. I don’t really want to talk about this. I’m not really happy about it, for many reasons.

-When he gets back, we will (or at least should be, if all goes as planned) going on our big camping/whitewater trip! I’m pretty pumped.

But most of this depends on the “big news” I will hear tomorrow. Sooo doing my fair share of praying for this.
