Weekly Mantra //

October 11, 2017 by Rachel 14 Comments

This week has gotten off to a weird start. Sleepless nights (for everyone, not just Remy), unexpected late work nights, and eating cereal for dinner two nights in a row… it just… happens.

I keep thinking “This week. THIS is the week that I’m going to get my act together and everything will go right.”

Haaaaaaa! Yeah right!

Not a darn thing has gone right. And I keep having these moments where I question every single thing that’s going on in my life. But then I find quotes like this to remind me that it’s all going to be okay. Because I am enough.

So today you can find me pressing on. I’m making priorities and writing and re-writing to-do lists; I’m making plans and making adjustments; and I’m just finding my way through this mess that (can be) life.

And if you happen to find yourself questioning yourself, I hope you remember that you, too, are enough. You are SO enough. xo

Monday Mantra //

September 11, 2017 by Rachel 15 Comments

It’s been a while, but I’m bringing back the Monday Mantra, friends. Last week was a doozy. Like, a real test-your-patience, make-you-question-everything, kind of a doozy!

I fully expected last week to be crazypants. But it was the worst kind of crazypants. See, we were starting our new family-schedule last week — Ari went back to school, my hours and schedule changed, and my husband was on-call for work. An adjustment, yes, but nothing that we can’t handle.

Ari’s first morning of school came and went. He was happy. There were no tears (there are never tears with this kid), and all was fine.

And then, on that same first day of school, just before bed, he started vomiting uncontrollably.

OMG. NO.

Those were the only words that came to my mind as Chad and I froze from shock, watching him get sick. See, we’ve been through this before; but the last time, just 9 months ago, we ended up in the hospital from severe dehydration (after passing around the stomach bug for 3.5 weeks, Ari’s little body just couldn’t handle it anymore).

We spent the next 24-ish hours in a semi-quarantine, trying to keep the sickness away from the rest of us, but somehow still managing to take care of Ari. It was hard, friends. Really, really, hard. Of course Chad actually got called into work several times, in the middle of the night, throughout this process. So I was flying solo for most of it. Sure, he helped when he was home; but how much can a person running on zero sleep possibly help?? It was so rough!

And the hours stuck in the house with a vomiting 4.5 year old and a very curious toddler are the most difficult hours of all time. Remy Bea wanted to be near the living (where Ari happened to be in quarantine) nonstop. So I had to block her off. At one point Ari said “No Remy! Stay there! I don’t want to get you sick!” and my heart melted into a million tiny pieces.

He recovered. Well, he’s at least recovered for now. And, at this moment, the rest of us have been able to keep it at bay.

So for this week my mantra is simple and to the point…

This too shall pass.

Because it’s what I want need to be reminded of right now. I’ve made it through tough mama times before and I can do it again.

The incessant laundry and cleaning; the tremendous worry and watching; and the exhausting weight of all of it; it will pass. I know it will. I just have to keep reminding myself of this.

Happy(ish) Monday? Yeah. Happy Monday. Cause this too shall freaking pass, y’all.

Weekly Mantra //

June 26, 2017 by Rachel 19 Comments

I can’t believe this is the last week of June. I mean, really. How? HOW!? It truly has been a crazy month. I don’t really understand why, though, because it feels like I’ve accomplished nothing.

But that’s motherhood, I guess. It all feels crazy when you’re lugging two kids around, am I right!? Here’s June in a nutshell —

  • T-ball. It’s legit, ya’ll. Well, at least it is around here. And it stole my soul! I mean, basically it did. Cause we either practiced two nights a week or had two practices and a game per week. And guess what?! The kids weren’t at all interested! Surprise, surprise. 😛 So it was basically like herding kittens.

  • Work, work, work. Chad and I both worked nonstop. Personally, I loved it. But I could honestly use a bit more sleep. 😛
  • Activities. Safety Town. Parties. It was all fun, but exhausting nonetheless.

But the hustle is what brings this weeks mantra:

Truer words, friends. Truer freaking words….

The Perfect Monday Mantra // and a life update

June 19, 2017 by Rachel 3 Comments

Guys, I’d be lying if I said anything other than the fact that this past week was… challenging. And I’m going into this week 100% exhausted.

Remy Bea was running a pretty high fever from Monday through Wednesday of last week. It turns out she had a pretty bad double ear infection. I had no idea! Neither of my kids have ever had an ear infection before — and she wasn’t doing anything odd, like pulling at her ears. I felt so awful for her! Needless to say, it made for a pretty poopy week.

In addition to that level of crazy, Ari had Safety Town every day last week. And it was during Remy Bea’s nap time 🙁 Ughhh. Worst. Oh – and it was the last week for baseball.

Life was so un-glamourous. And ohhhh such a mess. But we survived!!

And so I’ll leave you with the perfect mantra for this Mondayest Monday ever:

xo, friends!

Weekly Mantra //

June 12, 2017 by Rachel 15 Comments

Mom life is simultaneously gratifying and terrifying. As any mom knows, life is a constant roller coaster of crazy and pure joy. And this week is already shaping up to be crazy pants. I know — it’s only Monday!

So this week, just like any week, I’m going to be inhaling caffeine, and exhaling negativity. 😛 😛 OMG I love this mantra so much! If you’re a fellow caffeine addict, I’m certain you’ll get a kick out of it, too!

Happy Monday, friends! xo

Monday Mantra //

May 29, 2017 by Rachel 20 Comments

My mind is straight up mush tonight. We’ve had a whirlwind of a week (and weekend) and I’m just plain ol’ exhausted! I had planned on getting a lot of work done this holiday weekend, but instead I just embraced the moment and kept my laptop shut.

While I’m getting us back into a routine, here are a few photos from our crazy, fun, and exhausting weekend:

Happy Monday, friends! xo
