life

what a day to be alive!

July 30, 2009 by Rachel 22 Comments

So I didn’t do many of the things on my to do list today. But I did do the most important thing:

Spend some serious quality time with BF.

I got out of bed at 5am to go to my yoga class. I put my contacts in, put my yoga clothes on and got in my car. And then I realized. I will be leaving in a week and a half. Why am I going to yoga instead of spending some serious snuggle time in bed with the man of my dreams?!? I promptly got out of my car, took my contacts back out, changed back into my PJs and jumped back into bed with BF. Later when we woke up, BF told me he just knew I wasn’t going to yoga. ๐Ÿ™‚ I really love him.

So we went to get cupcakes, we split a sandwich, we drove up to the art museum in Cleveland, went for a stroll through Coventry (an artsy neighborhood in Cleveland), ate a grilled cheese sandwich, split some Peach-Mango Gelato, browsed through Crate and Barrel, and stopped by Trader Joes. After all the running around today it was nice to come home and snuggle up on the couch to watch a movie.

Hope everyone else had a wonderful day!

bursting at the seams

July 7, 2009 by Rachel 14 Comments

I’m bursting at the seams! I’m exploding with excitement and anxiety! I’ve been fretting and freaking and losing my mind for the last week. I can finally reveal my secret.
I’m moving back to Syracuse, New York.
If you’ve been reading a while you may know that I used to live in Syracuse and graduated from Syracuse University (a blessing and a curse). I’ve been working in Akron Ohio for Big Company since July 2007. Prior to that I was working for same Big Company in New York. I will be moving back to Syracuse to work for Big Company (again) later this month.
It is official.
So now that it’s official, I’ve got so much on my mind that I need to get out…
Where will I live?!? Oh dear. I have wonderful friends that have offered me a couch until I find a place. This means that I will be leaving my puppy, Oscar (who isn’t really a puppy anymore. He’s 4) with my parents for now. It also means that I will be leaving BF here in Ohio.
Leaving BF in OHIO!?!? UGH! This kills me. But he will be looking for a job in Syracuse so I hope (and pray) that he will be joining me up there very soon. I don’t know what I’ll do without him in the meantime. This is tearing me apart. For real. The 5 and a half hours between us will likely kill me.
Finances. So this is the main reason for moving. Big Company pays slightly (ehh, more than slightly) less in Ohio than they do in Syracuse. The cost of living in Central NY is not dramatically different. In fact, the demand for things that are pricey here (gym membership, organic food, yoga, etc) is so much greater in NY so it’s way cheaper (Umm, gym membership for $19 a month there! YEP!).
Home. Yes, Ohio is my ‘home.’ But I definitely have always felt very at home in Syracuse. To say that I haven’t missed it since I left would be a lie. I’ve missed that place like crazy… Planet Fitness, Syrajuice, Halo, the parks, the neighborhood, the university… Sigh.

So now that I am officially moving I am officially planning my big going away party. I want to think of it as my “finally starting my life” party. I’m not sure if everyone understands what a dramatic change I am making here. I will be leaving everything I know is safe and taking the biggest risk of my life. I’m so excited and so terrified at the same time. If anyone has any words of wisdom they would like to share, I’d surely be grateful and appreciative.

-Half-way through the week! Woo hoo!

-Today is supposed to be the day that I get the call about the job (usually never happens on the day they say it will tho).

-Picked up our pottery last night. It looks beautiful! ๐Ÿ™‚ Mine is the Blue/Green Plate; Chad’s is the Red Sushi Platter!

-Mailed my taxes this morning…. goodbye money. ๐Ÿ™

-I love eating dessert and watching The Biggest Loser. It seems like we (BF & I) are always eating some junk food when it’s on. It’s a little funny… ๐Ÿ™‚

-Anxiety over: my current job; future job possibilities; future living arrangements; future in general; the rest of this week; planning BFs birthday trip; and other weird things…

-Excited for Friday, May 1st! Carli, Angela & I are going to
Girls Nite/Margarita Nite/Paint Your Own Pottery Nite at All Fired Up! Should be a good time! It’s BYOT (Bring Your Own Tequila)! They supply the food. All you pay for is the pottery! So I’ll bring a bottle of tequila and my creativity and be ready to go!

-I’ve had a serious sweet tooth lately. I don’t usually eat chocolate, but the BF picked up some crazy Tiger Stripe fudge (It’s vanilla fudge with peanut butter) when we were at White House Chocolates. I don’t like peanut butter really, but this was AMAZING! I also got two pretzel rods, covered in caramel, then covered in milk chocolate! DELICIOUS! WOW.
