Junior League

completely random true story tuesday.

May 18, 2010 by Rachel 9 Comments

Tonight I have my first Junior League of Akron event. It also happens to be their big, fancy, annual dinner. So I am going. Without knowing anyone. All by my lonesome. Hopefully this will be a good way to meet people.

True story.

But I’m pretty grateful that there will be alcohol availalbe {hello… nerves and anxiety of not knowing anyone.}

True story.

I just got back from running some errands. I had to stop by Target for hangers and highlighers {odd combo}. In addition, I bought 6 shirts. WTF.

True story.

And I’m going back to Target tomorrow to pick up some shelving for my belongings. I wanted to grab it today, but I was using a hand basket instead of a cart. And I was too lazy to go back and get a cart.

True story.

I made a dinner for BF last night. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be edible, and it turned out to be INCREDIBLE! I’m so proud.

True story.

{Vegans, cover your ears} I also cooked with chicken. Which is weird because I am afraid of meat. But this time I wasn’t. So weird.

True story.

I’m looking forward to going to yoga classes this week and trying out new teachers. They each seem to have something incredibly profound to say… like, exactly what you need to hear at that exact moment. It’s an incredible feeling.

True story.

I am getting back to being super consistent with blogging. But forgive me because I’m still about 700-deep in my google reader.

True story.

I sometimes find myself wanting to use hashtags, like #truestory, in non-twitter places. Like my blog. And texts. It’s strange. But I think it would be OK. 🙂

true story tuesday

December 8, 2009 by Rachel 13 Comments

This week I have skipped the gym two days. My body is just exhausted, but I still feel guilty and I’m pretty sure those 7 fun size Twix bars didn’t help.

True story.

I got my lovely apron in the mail on Saturday and proceeded to make two dozen cupcakes for work. If you haven’t, you should really check out this incredible Etsy shop.

True story.

Last night I went to the Blue Tusk with Tracy & Josh, whom I had never met before, and I had such a great time! And the food was delicious! A lobster BLT (minus the T, of course)! I will definitely eat there again.

True story.

I have the Junior League of Syracuse holiday party tonight! And I will be inducted as a new member tonight.

True story.

The party is being held at Pascale’s Wine Bar, so needless to say my dry spell at the gym will probably continue tomorrow morning.

True story.

I get to drive back to Ohio Thursday night to spend the weekend with BF! I’m really excited! It’s been 10 days too long!

things i’m loving/things i’m doing.

December 2, 2009 by Rachel 14 Comments

So I have a TON to update y’all on! But this is more of a “Fun With Bullet Points” type of post today.

Things that I am loving:

– Vintage Confections Etsy store. Awesomeness. Red Velvet Truffles? Sign me up!

– The Super Sauce. Check out their online store. BF & I tried this (& bought two jars) at the Fab Food Show and we are already out! It’s delicious on sandwiches. I must order more. Now.

– Lisa’s Hillside Bakery. The vanilla peppermint bark looks incredible.

– I know I have previous talked about Wine-a-ritas…. but I’ve been converted! I have a new wine slushie mix that will forever have my heart. It’s called Frappe Vino. The reason that it is more awesome than the other? Because it is: a) cheaper, and b) it doesn’t require a blender! You actually just need to pour a bottle of wine into a ziploc bag, pour in the mix, and mix in some water! It turns to a slush consistency within just a few hours!

Things that I am doing:

– Yesterday I gave blood and came wicked close to passing out. I’m sure I’ll do it
again sometime, but I’m going to block this experience out of my head.

– Tracy convinced me to do a Polar Bear Plunge with her in January. I think it will be fun (note: I usually think other painful things, like tattoos, will be fun as well. I usually realize I’m freaked out just moments before the big event).

– Tomorrow is my last Provisional Junior League meeting. Which means next Tuesday I become a for real member! We are going to this fantastic restaurant in Syracuse called Pascale’s Wine Bar & Restaurant, which I’ve never been to, but I’ve heard is awesome.

– I’ll be joining a running group this Sunday. I’m pretty excited about that. But I’m also going to go to a Body Boot Camp workout after that. I’m excited for both. I think I can handle a back to back workout. Right?

Hope everyone is as excited as I am that this week is almost over!

true story tuesday.

True story…

-I met my first blogger friend, Sara from Stumbling in Stilettos, out for some Starbucks! I had never met a blogger in real life before and was totally nervous (true story). But I had an AWESOME time! I didn’t realize exactly how much we have in common (long distance relationships, Syracuse, vommit phobias… {don’t judge}). I cannot wait to hang out with her again. No joke.

-I am watching the Biggest Loser and this chick makes me want to kick her in the face… You know which one… the one on the purple team. Foot = face.

-Only a couple days until I get to see BF.

-I am inches away from being a NY State resident!

-Tomorrow is Wednesday… which isn’t a Monday or a Tuesday, so it must be better, right? I dunno… it’s just science.

-I am definitely excited about getting involved with the Junior League of Syracuse. It seems like it will be a great time and a wonderful way to keep me involved in the community.
