Air Fryer Jalapeño Mummies

September 11, 2022 by Rachel 7 Comments

It’s mid-September(ish) and we are finally set to have some semi-decent Fall weather this week. I’m going to run with it and make my NEWEST and most favorite recipe ever. These are perfect for Halloween, but also for football season. Who doesn’t love a jalapeño poppers, am I right?! These delightful (and adorable) poppers will have everyone in the spirit for some Fall fun. Be sure to make these Air Fryer Jalapeño Mummies your must-have for all of your Fall parties.

Air Fryer Jalapeño Mummies

What you’ll need

Besides having some bomb jalapeños, you’re going to need one major component for this recipe. And that is an air fryer. Now, I’ve spoken about my love of Ninja Foodi’s before, but this one works really well also.

Air Fryer Jalapeño Mummies

Here’s what else you’ll need:

  • 1 can of crescent roll
  • 6 fresh jalapeños
  • 1 – 8 ounce package of cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 egg
  • 24 candy eyeballs

That’s it. If you’re looking for more Halloween recipes, check this out!

How to make Air Fryer Jalapeño Mummies

Yield: 12

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 can of crescent roll
  • 6 fresh jalapeños
  • 1 - 8 ounce package of cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 egg
  • 24 candy eyeballs

Instructions

INGREDIENTS -

  1. Clean and prepare jalapeños by slicing them open, removing the seeds and endocarp (the whitish membrane that seeds are attached to.), and rinsing the insides out. Try to leave the stem intact. Provides a perfect handle.
  2. Roll out crescent roll dough leaving individual rolls together. Pinch closed the perforations.
  3. Place dough between two sheets of parchment paper. Roll flat to 1/8” thick.
  4. Cut slices long ways to mimic mummy wrap. Set aside.
  5. Add cheeses and garlic to a mixing bowl and whip until light and airy.

  6. Fill the inside of the jalapeños.
  7. Wrap the jalapeños in the dough to mimic a mummy. You can overlap the dough but the dough will expand so do not over-wrap the jalapeños. You want to see the jalapeños under the wrapping.
  8. Whisk the egg and brush over the wrapped jalapeños.
  9. Place in a parchment-lined air fryer basket. Cook for 10 minutes at 375°f or until the dough is golden brown.
  10. Once cooked remove and let cool.
  11. Place two eyes on each jalapeño pushing into the cheese filling.
  12. Serve with ranch and enjoy.

Hot Dog Mummies – Kid-Friendly Halloween Recipe

September 13, 2021 by Rachel 14 Comments

Halloween is just around the corner. And my kids are here for it! Honestly, we are just in need of a reason to celebrate. And sure, it might still reach 90 degrees on some afternoons, but it’s not stopping us from celebrating the spooky season. So on days when I need to create a little bit of extra joy in my kids lives, we make this hot dog mummies recipe for dinner. They’re easy, delicious, and just a little spooky.

Hot Dog Mummies Recipe

What you’ll need to make this Halloween snack

These spooky Halloween snacks are extremely simple and you will kick yourself for not making them sooner! Honestly, my kids freak out every single time I make them for dinner (which, honestly, is a lot lately). So here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 package of of Hot Dogs
  • 1 can of refrigerated Crescent Rolls
  • Candy Eyes
  • Cooking Spray
  • Ketchup & Mustard (optional)
Hot Dog Mummies Recipe

That’s it! Easy peasy. I just highly suggest that you use cooking spray to make sure that the crescent roll dough doesn’t get too hard or cook too quickly. If you’re looking for a light spray, we love this Avocado Oil Spray.

Halloween Cauldron Cake Pops Recipe

September 8, 2021 by Rachel 14 Comments

There’s a slight crisp in the air and the leaves are beginning to fall. I’m officially declaring that it’s spooky season. And what better way to start the Halloween season than with a fun treat for the kids. Making these Halloween cauldron cake pops is time consuming, but the end result is absolutely worth it.

Halloween Cauldron Cake Pops

What you’ll need

As far as ingredients, these cute little cake pops are super easy. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 box of Devil’s Food Cake Mix (including ingredients for the box cake mix)
  • cream cheese frosting (or any frosting of your choice such as buttercream, or chocolate!)
  • cocoa chocolate melts
  • green chocolate melts
  • orange chocolate melts
  • vanilla almond bark
  • Green and orange sprinkles
  • and approximately 20 cake pop sticks
Halloween Cauldron Cake Pops

As far as the process itself, the recipe might appear to be daunting — but don’t be alarmed! The extra time is mostly just accounting for cooling times. And please, please do not skip out on the cooling times! It’s super important for the consistency of the pops that they are cooled properly before assembly.

Prep Time 5 hours
Cook Time 40 minutes
Assembly Time 2 hours
Total Time 7 hours 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 box of Devil’s Food Cake Mix (including ingredients for the box cake mix)
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese frosting (or any frosting of your choice such as buttercream, or chocolate!)
  • 12 oz cocoa chocolate melts, melted
  • 4 oz green chocolate melts, melted
  • 4 oz orange chocolate melts, melted
  • 1 oz vanilla almond bark (1 square), melted
  • Green and orange round sprinkles
  • 20 cake pop sticks

Instructions

INGREDIENTS -

STEP 1 -

Bake your cake according to the box mix instructions. Once cooked, allow to completely cool.

STEP 2 -

In a large mixing bowl, add your cake and frosting. Mix well.

STEP 3 -

Using a small cookie scoop, or spoon (you can even eyeball it, but you want to make the pops as much as the same size as you can.), scoop your cake mix. With the palms of your hands, roll into a ball.

STEP 4 -

Dip your pop stick into a very small amount (the size of your pinky nail) of the melted chocolate. Then immediately stick into your cake pop. Repeat until all pops have been made.

STEP 5 -

Prepare a cookie sheet, plate, cutting board, etc. Any flat surface will do. Add a sheet of parchment paper.

STEP 6 -

Dip each cake pop into your melted chocolate. I prefer to use a large bowl, and by using a spoon, coat each part of the cake pop. Once coated, hold the stick, and lightly tap your cake pop on the side of the bowl to remove excess chocolate. Once you feel that most of the excess is done, put your cake pop upside down (stick up). Repeat until done.

STEP 7 -

Dip about 1/3 of the cake pop in the melted orange and green chocolate. Hold the stick, and lightly bang the stick on a hard surface causing the “drip” effect. Immediately add your round sprinkles to the top of your cake pop while it’s still wet.

STEP 8 -

Use a piece of styrofoam to place the cake pops in, as you’ll need to allow it to dry.

STEP 9 - Once the chocolate has dried, serve and ENJOY!

Witches Brew Bark Kids Halloween Recipe

October 9, 2020 by Rachel 22 Comments

The Spooky Season is here! And I am here for the Spooky Season! I am, admittedly, not a super “Yay, Halloween!” person. I mostly feel like adults tend to overdo this holiday and get more into it than the kids. That being said, it has recently come to my attention that my nearly 8-year-old is VERY into Halloween. Thus, I suppose, I am very into Halloween on his behalf. So we’ve been doing all things Halloween around here. One of those things? Getting crafty with this Witches Brew Bark Kids Halloween Recipe!

Witches Brew Bark Kids Halloween Recipe

My kids are basically obsessed with anything creepy and spooky these days. We watch The Nightmare Before Christmas for 6-months out of the year. Ya know, because it’s basically a Halloween and Christmas movie all in one. So we basically are living all things funky in this house.

Why we get crafty!

Let’s be real — kids don’t need a lot to get excited. Something as easy as a quick and simple Halloween craft is enough to please them for days! I tend to stock up on craft supplies at the end of every season, knowing that the following year we will use them.

Witches Brew Bark Kids Halloween Recipe

What You’ll Need

This recipe is easy. If you’ve ever made chocolate bark before, you’ll know that it’s simple and you can get super creative. For this recipe in particular, you’ll need an assortment of chocolate melts. I buy my Wilton Candy Melts on Amazon. They’re inexpensive and ship free with Prime! For this I use lavender, turquoise, and lime green.

I also recommend using gummy worms (because they are ‘creepy’), candy eyeballs, and candy corn. You’ll need a baking sheet, three microwave safe bowls, and parchment paper. That’s all you need for this easy peasy recipe!

  3. Once the chocolates are all melted, pour the melted chocolates across the parchment-lined cookie sheet. Use a spatula to spread the base layer.

  4. Continue pouring the chocolate onto the baking sheet. Use a toothpick to swirl the chocolates around.

  5. Once all the chocolate has been poured, gently press the candies into the chocolate.

  6. Place baking sheet in the refrigerator for 20-minutes to cool. Then remove the chocolate from the parchment paper backing. Use both hands to break apart chocolate into bark-sized pieces.

Making the most of Quarantine Halloween

September 28, 2020 by Rachel 21 Comments

Twenty-twenty will forever go down as the worst phrase of our generation. As a mom of young kids, one of the worst things ever is knowing that my kids know that something is going on. I mean, my 7 year old and my 4 year old both keep saying “…when COVID-19 is over, can we….?” And it absolutely breaks my heart. But we’re all doing the absolute best that we can given the circumstances. So I have made it my personal mission to let my kids know that Covid doesn’t have to stop the fun. And that’s why I’m making the most of quarantine Halloween!

trick or treat

Trick-or-no-treat?

Our city is still very much on the fence regarding trick-or-treating. But I am not. Our neighborhood gets really busy — which we have always welcomed. But this year I am less than thrilled about the potential for kids coming and going and pushing around. With a heavy heart we decided against traditional trick-or-treating this year. And, honestly, I think that’s what’s best. My kids will have another Halloween and trick-or-treat. But, Covid is a wildcard. And I couldn’t live with myself if something happened.

So what should we do?!

There are so many ways to make the most of Halloween. Kids don’t really care about trick-or-treating. Heck! My kids usually only last 15 minutes! But they do love celebrations — and candy! So that’s what we will do.

Making the most of Quarantine Halloween

How we’re celebrating

We will still dress up. I will admit — I don’t like how much adults ‘love’ Halloween. I’ve always hated the idea of adult Halloween parties. But I will dress up this year for my kids. We will have a big at-home party! My kids and I will be setting up the most perfect candy charcuterie board for Halloween.

Making the most of Quarantine Halloween

What you need for a candy charcuterie board

Assorted candies
Small containers
Large cutting board or platter

Charcuterie Board

Candies may include:

Twizzlers
M&Ms
Candy Corn
Candy Pumpkins
Jelly Slugs
Halloween Pez
Bloody Bites
Spooky Lips Lollipops
Assorted snack size candies, wrapped or unwrapped

  1. Choose a board or serving dishes for the charcuterie board.
  2. Place loose ingredients (small candies, loose candies, etc.) into bowls or individual dishes. Place those bowls on the board or buffet first.
  3. Arrange other candies around the bowls.
  4. Add assorted tongs or Halloween decorations.

Tell me this…

How are you planning on making this the BEST Halloween ever for your kids?!
