I’m having a super busy week! Luckily it’s flying by.
I picked up our pottery on Saturday
from our girls day out pottery session a couple weeks ago,
and it looks fantastic {if I do say so myself}!
Here is a before shot of my plates:
And here they are after:

Here are a few pictures of the girls’ finished products!:

Can’t wait to go back and paint another piece!

weekend!

First, be sure to enter my Shabby Apple Giveaway HERE!

Finally. Finally. Finally. Something about this week {the random 4 inches of snowfall we had, perhaps?} wore me OUT! I’m ready to sleep in {ha!} and have some me time!

After work tonight I’m heading to the gym to play racquettball for the first time {wish me luck}. Apparently the fact that I picked up a tennis racquet for my 2nd time ever last night at, during a cardio tennis class, has inspired me. The rest of my evening will be spent from the comforts of my couch, in my pajamas, with leftover Mexican food, perhaps a Light Yuengling, and a movie. Now that is how you relax on a Friday night!

On Saturday my girlfriends and I are going on a girl date to All Fired Up! in Akron to paint some pottery. Perhaps we’ll hit up Swensons Drive In for some delicious burgers.

But before the girls get here tomorrow, I am going down to VegiTerranean Restaurant {you know, my fave vegan restaurant} to purchase a few gluten-free cupcakes from Pure DeLite {this cute little vegan/gluten-free cupcake shop} during a bake sale they are having to raise money for Japan relief.

Sunday I am going to a visiting teacher yoga class at Cleveland Yoga. My first, and favorite, yoga teacher, Diana, is back in town and decided to teach two classes while here. I know it’s going to be a packed {and super sweaty} class, but I’m looking forward to it!

And, to end my weekend, I’ll be heading to my parents house to celebrate a very special birthday – my sister turns 24! So dinner and cake it is!

Not a bad looking weekend, if you ask me!

What are your plans for this weekend??

Back to the work week.

Here we go again…

So I can’t help but feel so cliche when Monday morning hits. Why is it that we ALL tend to feel like Monday is the worst possible day of the week? I mean, I get it. The weekend has ended, but why does Tuesday feel so much better? It usually equally sucks.

Anywho…
So I took a look at my little ‘to-do’ list for the weekend, and I accomplished a LOT!

–Star Trek was AWESOME. For real. Loved it! And BF bought some (greasy) popcorn, which I enjoyed thoroughly!

-After Star Trek we went out to Cheeseburger In Paradise, where I got a DELICIOUS drink and a GREAT burger (yummm to mushrooms & swiss!).

-We rushed to All Fired Up! to pick up the gals pottery before they closed! We JUST made it! I was semi-h
appy with the results… but it wasn’t my best work.

-We finally got home around 11PM Friday night and we pretty much went straight to sleep. We were exhausted.

-Saturday morning I had to drag BF’s butt out of bed so we would make it to our yoga class. My favorite teacher would be leading the class so missing it was not an option… We made it and we had a wonderful practice. BF really seems to like it. I am thrilled that he is taking an interest in something that means so much to me already.

-After our practice, I convinced him to run into the mall with me. Yes, we were sweaty, but there is only ONE mall in all of Northeast Ohio that has a MAC makeup counter and I am usually not near it. So we dragged our sweaty selves to the MAC makeup counter. I (quickly) made my purchases and headed out of the mall.

-Our next stop: Whole Foods Market! One of my favorite places! We were starving for some lunch, so we grabbed some delicious takeout.

-Before I knew it, it was Saturday evening! I headed with BF and his dad to get some dinner to celebrate BFs upcoming birthday (which is this Wednesday)! We went to a gourmet pizza place that we had never been to before. The pizza was good, the wait was FAR too long. For real. Seated and then waiting 45 minutes for our pizza to come?!? WTF. But they did sing BF happy birthday, so that was sweet.

-Post-birthday dinner we went to A&Bs to watch the CAVS game. Turns out the gals didn’t watch the game at all! We were busy gossiping, laughing and drinking wine! BF hung out with the guys (I am SO grateful he already mostly knows my friends and that he gets along with them so well). I drank just a little bit of wine 😉 It was a really good time and it was great to be able to blow off some steam. Plus I arranged to have A&B pick up an Ice Cream cake that I had ordered for BF. So he was very surpirsed about the singing of Happy Birthday and his very delicious Dairy Queen Ice Cream cake!

-Sunday morning I celebrated mom’s day with the fam. We went out to breakfast and then my sister and parents went to see the Cleveland Indians
game. This left me with a lot of time to get my own stuff done, uninterrupted. I cleaned my car (woo hoo! For those of you who have seen my car, you know why I am so happy about this) and I began some laundry. I also finished BFs birthday card. Which I don’t think I have mentioned is a Bday card/scrapbook card. I basically made a mini-scrapbook birthday card. I’m crafty like that. And I like to show him how much he means to me (I know, so lovey-dovey). So that is finished and I’ve posted some pictures of the final product!

-I did not have a chance to go to White House Chocolates and I was super bummed that I did not get my TigerButter fix! But BF got some for his birthday and shared some with me last night. When he leaves this week I’ll be home more and have time to stop by White House Chocolates myself!

-That being said, this week will be busy. I’m taking BF and his mom to the airport Wednesday morning. I am not at all thrilled about him leaving. I am feeling the first stings of jealousy (of my life!). That’s for another post tho… And I will be crossing my fingers regarding that job (that I STILL have not heard back about… GRRR.).

So here’s to another week.. and another Monday.

So much going on

April 24, 2009 by Rachel 2 Comments

There is so much going on within the next few weeks, it’s ridiculous.

-tomorrow BF and I are going to the Indians versus the Twins game. I love going to live sporting events… the energy, the outdoors, the hotdogs, the beer! All make for a wonderful experience! Plus it’s “fireworks” night. BF seemed very excited about this part. And, in theory, I’m excited about this part. There is something cute and slightly romantic about fireworks, I suppose. The only problem is that I am slightly frightened of fireworks. Oh well. I’ll deal with it and just make him ‘keep me safe.’ 😉

-I’m also supposed to hear about the job tomorrow… EEEK. Could make or break me.

-Saturday I am volunteering at the Akron Zoo for their Party For The Planet in celebration of Earth Day. I am handing out information on Earthwatch Ohio, which is a non-profit group focused on sustainable living. I’ve (somehow?) convinced BF to join me. We are supposed to have BEAUTIFUL weather this weekend, so, if nothing else, I will get some sun. 🙂

-Next Friday May 1st, I have Girls Nite with two of my favorites. It’s Margarita Nite at All Fired Up! in Akron. It’s BYOT (Bring Your Own Tequila)! They provide the snacks. We are going to spend the evening drinking margaritas, painting pottery, snacking, and chatting. Sounds pretty fantastic to me! 🙂 I’m very excited.

-Shortly there after (the 13th) is BF’s birthday. I’m not quite sure what I”ll be doing that day, mostly because it’s a weekday and both of our schedules may be pretty hectic.

-Then I will be dropping him and his mother off at the airport. They are going to Denver to visit family. I don’t really want to talk about this. I’m not really happy about it, for many reasons.

-When he gets back, we will (or at least should be, if all goes as planned) going on our big camping/whitewater trip! I’m pretty pumped.

But most of this depends on the “big news” I will hear tomorrow. Sooo doing my fair share of praying for this.

Happy Monday

April 13, 2009 by Rachel Leave a Comment

Monday, Monday, Monday.

The Weekend:
-the weekend was great. spent some serious time with BF and his family, but we had fun.

-i’m starting to get really comfortable around his extended family, so i can be myself and be silly.

-spent a little time with my family yesterday. it was boring (i’m so mean).

-TV/snuggle marathon with the BF last night. it was a great way to slow down the end of the weekend. couldn’t have asked for anything better.

This Week:
-have a busy week ahead of me at work, but I’m not going to stress about unreasonable deadlines. oh well 🙂

-get to pick up pottery tomorrow from All Fired Up! and see our beautiful sushi plate creations.

-planning the BFs birthday. he already knows we are going to west virginia for a whitewater rafting trip. still ironing out the details. 🙂

-smiling a LOT for a monday morning. 😀

So sick :(

April 6, 2009 by Rachel 2 Comments

So I had a really good weekend. Made sure I spent time focusing on me, but also was able to bring the BF along for a couple things. I really wanted to go paint pottery, and even though yesterday was a beautiful day that should have been spent outside, I asked BF to join me at All Fired Up in Akron to paint! He agreed and away we went! He painted a sushi platter and I painted a sushi plate. This is something that I have never really brought anyone along to do with me, so it was kinda nice that he wanted to go with me. 🙂

About halfway through painting pottery I started having these horrible stomach pains. I did a LOT of yoga this weekend, so I had a feeling it was from strenuous abdominal exercises. It got worse and worse. We made smoked salmon again for dinner, and I could barely eat because I was in so much pain.

In the middle of the night I ended up waking up screaming… like, literally, screaming out in pain. BF tried and tried to make it go away. He used pressure points that are supposed to help with stomach pains, and it helped… temporarily. The pain was so intense that I started to feel like I was going to be sick. I spent most of the night near the bathroom, just in case I was going to throw up. It was awful. I knew I had to be up for work at 6:30, and I couldn’t sleep because the pain and nausea. I had to call in sick to work this morning and I really really did not want to do that. I have a ton of pressure on me at work, but I wasn’t convinced that I could hold it in… and I did NOT want to throw up in the work bathrooms.

It’s early afternoon now and I’m feeling semi-better. I forced myself to eat, but I’m going to hold off on yoga for a few days. Was it the stomach flu? Food poisoning? Bad abdominal pains? I’m pretty sure it might have bee a combination…

Now I’ll be worrying about work all day… sigh. I don’t get paid enough to stress about work when I’m not there.
