Instant Pot Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread (Easy No-Oven Recipe)

July 9, 2026 by Rachel Leave a Comment

When summer arrives, the last thing I want to do is turn on my oven and heat up the entire kitchen. But that doesn’t mean I’m giving up on delicious homemade sides and appetizers! This Instant Pot Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread is the perfect solution for warm-weather cooking because it delivers buttery, cheesy, pull-apart bread without the extra heat from the oven.

Made with simple ingredients and cooked right in the Instant Pot, this savory monkey bread is soft, flavorful, and packed with garlic Parmesan goodness in every bite. Whether you’re serving it alongside dinner, bringing it to a party, or looking for an easy snack for the family, this recipe is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Instant Pot Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread

Why You’ll Love This Instant Pot Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread

There is something so fun about monkey bread — especially when everyone can pull off their own bite-sized piece. While traditional monkey bread is often sweet and covered in cinnamon sugar, this savory version is loaded with garlic, butter, herbs, and Parmesan cheese.

Using the Instant Pot makes this recipe especially convenient during the summer months. Instead of waiting for your oven to preheat and heating up your entire kitchen, you can enjoy warm, homemade bread with minimal effort.

Instant Pot Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread

Here are a few reasons this recipe is a family favorite:

  • No oven required, making it perfect for hot summer days
  • Soft, fluffy pull-apart bread with tons of flavor
  • Easy enough for busy weeknights
  • A fun appetizer or side dish everyone loves
  • Uses simple ingredients you likely already have on hand

Ingredients for Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread

One of the best things about this recipe is that it uses simple, easy-to-find ingredients. Refrigerated biscuit dough keeps prep time to a minimum, while butter, garlic, parsley, and Parmesan create the classic garlic bread flavor everyone loves.

You’ll need:

  • 3 (10-ounce) cans of refrigerated flaky biscuits – These create the soft, pull-apart texture that makes monkey bread so irresistible.
  • 10 tablespoons of butter, melted – Butter coats every piece of biscuit dough and helps carry all of the delicious flavors.
  • 6 tablespoons of parsley – Fresh or dried parsley adds color and a bright, herby flavor.
  • 5 teaspoons of minced garlic – Garlic is the star of this savory monkey bread, giving every bite bold flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon of salt – Just enough to enhance all of the other ingredients.
  • 1 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese – Freshly shredded Parmesan melts beautifully and adds a rich, cheesy finish. I like to freshly shred a parmesan wedge, but pre-shredded will work just as well.

Kitchen Equipment You’ll Need

Besides your ingredients, you’ll also need a few kitchen essentials:

  • Instant Pot (6- or 8-quart)
  • Instant Pot trivet
  • Small Bundt pan that fits inside your Instant Pot
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Microwave-safe bowl (if different from your mixing bowl)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Nonstick cooking spray or butter for greasing the pan

How to Make Instant Pot Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread

One of my favorite things about this recipe is how quickly it comes together. With refrigerated biscuit dough and a handful of pantry staples, you’ll have a warm, buttery pull-apart bread that’s perfect for serving with dinner or as an appetizer.

Step 1: Make the Garlic Parmesan Butter

In a medium microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter in 30-second intervals until completely melted. Stir in the parsley, minced garlic, salt, and shredded Parmesan cheese until everything is well combined.

Step 2: Coat the Biscuit Pieces

Cut each refrigerated biscuit into quarters. Add the biscuit pieces to the garlic butter mixture a handful at a time, gently tossing to make sure each piece is evenly coated with the buttery Parmesan mixture.

Step 3: Fill the Bundt Pan

Divide the coated biscuit pieces into two equal portions. (This recipe makes two monkey breads.) Spray a small Bundt pan with nonstick cooking spray or grease it with butter before layering one portion of the biscuit pieces inside the pan.

Step 4: Prepare the Instant Pot

Pour 2 cups of water into the bottom of the Instant Pot and place the trivet inside. Carefully set the filled Bundt pan onto the trivet.

Secure the lid, making sure the pressure valve is set to Sealing.

Step 5: Pressure Cook

Cook on High Pressure for 45 minutes.

Once the cooking time is complete, carefully perform a manual (quick) pressure release by moving the valve to Venting.

Step 6: Cool and Serve

Using oven mitts or a towel, carefully lift the trivet and Bundt pan from the Instant Pot. Allow the monkey bread to cool for several minutes before placing a serving plate over the pan and carefully inverting it.

Serve warm on its own or with marinara sauce for dipping.

Yield: 2 bundt cakes

Tips for the Best Instant Pot Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread

Use flaky refrigerated biscuits.
Flaky-style biscuits create the best pull-apart texture, allowing each piece to separate easily after cooking.

Coat the biscuits in batches.
Instead of adding all of the biscuit pieces at once, toss them into the garlic butter mixture in several batches so every piece gets evenly coated.

Don’t forget to grease the Bundt pan.
A generous coating of cooking spray or butter helps the monkey bread release cleanly after cooking.

Let it cool for a few minutes.
Giving the monkey bread a short rest before inverting it helps it hold its shape while still serving warm.

Serve with marinara sauce.
The garlic and Parmesan flavors pair perfectly with warm marinara, making this recipe taste like cheesy garlic bread in pull-apart form.

Make the second Bundt cake later.
Since this recipe makes enough for two monkey breads, you can refrigerate the second coated batch while the first cooks, or prepare them back-to-back if you’re feeding a crowd.

What to Serve With Your Monkey Bread

This savory monkey bread pairs well with so many meals! Serve it as an appetizer with marinara sauce for dipping, alongside a summer salad, or as the perfect side dish for:

  • Pasta dinners
  • Grilled chicken
  • Soups and salads
  • Italian-inspired meals
  • Holiday gatherings

It’s also a fun addition to family dinners because everyone loves pulling apart their own piece.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

During the summer, I’m always looking for ways to keep my kitchen cool. Instead of heating up the oven for nearly an hour, I can make Instant Pot Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread right on my countertop. It has all the buttery, cheesy, garlicky flavor you’d expect from homemade garlic bread, but without raising the temperature in the house. It’s one of those easy recipes that’s perfect for pasta night, game day, family gatherings, or anytime you need a crowd-pleasing appetizer with very little prep.

Chicken Tortellini Skillet

June 26, 2026 by Rachel Leave a Comment

If your family is anything like mine, weeknight dinners need to check a few important boxes: quick, filling, kid-approved, and easy to clean up. That’s exactly why this Chicken Tortellini Skillet has earned a spot in our regular dinner rotation.

Tender bites of seasoned chicken, cheesy tortellini, a creamy tomato sauce, and plenty of melty mozzarella all come together in one skillet in about 25 minutes. It’s rich, comforting, and tastes like something you’d order at your favorite Italian restaurant—but it’s surprisingly simple enough for a Tuesday night.

Chicken Tortellini Skillet

As much as I love cooking, I don’t love washing a sink full of dishes afterward. That’s why one-pan meals like this are always a win in our house. Plus, everyone gets excited when tortellini is on the menu, so I know dinner will actually get eaten without complaints.

Why You’ll Love This Chicken Tortellini Skillet

There are so many reasons to add this recipe to your weekly meal plan.

  • Ready in about 25 minutes
  • Everything cooks in one skillet
  • Creamy, cheesy comfort food the whole family enjoys
  • Perfect for busy weeknights
  • Minimal cleanup
  • Easy to customize with vegetables or extra seasonings

Ingredients You’ll Need

One of my favorite things about this recipe is that it uses simple ingredients you can easily grab during your weekly grocery trip.

  • Olive oil
  • Chicken breast
  • Minced garlic
  • Italian seasoning
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Chicken broth
  • Heavy cream
  • Cheese tortellini
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley
Chicken Tortellini Skillet

Kitchen Tools You’ll Need

Before getting started, you’ll need:

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Large skillet with lid
  • Spatula

How to Make this Chicken Tortellini Skillet

Step 1: Cook the chicken.

Dice the chicken into bite-sized pieces.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is nearly cooked through.

Step 2: Add the veggies and broth.

Pour in the diced tomatoes, chicken broth, and heavy cream. Stir well and bring everything to a boil.

Step 3: Now it’s time for the tortellini.

Add the cheese tortellini and stir so the pasta is coated in the liquid. Cover the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes.

Step 4: Add cheese and simmer.

Remove the lid and stir in the mozzarella cheese along with ¼ cup of the Parmesan cheese. Simmer uncovered for another 3 minutes until the sauce thickens and the cheese melts into a creamy sauce.

Step 5: Serve.

Remove from the heat. Sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley before serving.

Tips for the Best Chicken Tortellini Skillet

  • Cut the chicken into evenly sized pieces so it cooks quickly and evenly.
  • Use freshly grated parmesan. Freshly grated Parmesan melts better than the pre-shredded variety!
  • Keep an eye on the tortellini while it cooks so it stays perfectly tender.
  • If the sauce becomes too thick, simply stir in a splash of chicken broth.
  • Garnish with extra parsley and Parmesan just before serving for the best flavor.

Easy Ways to Make It Your Own

This recipe is incredibly versatile.

  • Add fresh spinach during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • Stir in sliced mushrooms or diced zucchini.
  • Use rotisserie chicken to make dinner even faster.
  • Swap mozzarella for an Italian cheese blend.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a little heat.

I used the Barilla brand cheese tortellini from the dry pasta aisle. It’s mini sized tortellini.

What to Serve with Chicken Tortellini Skillet

This hearty meal is filling on its own, but it’s even better with a few simple sides.

  • Garlic bread
  • Caesar salad
  • Roasted broccoli
  • Steamed green beans
  • Breadsticks
  • A simple garden salad

Storage Tips

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave, adding a splash of chicken broth or cream if needed to loosen the sauce.

I don’t recommend freezing this recipe since cream-based sauces can separate after thawing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use refrigerated tortellini?

Absolutely! Refrigerated tortellini cooks even faster, so reduce the cooking time slightly and check for doneness after about 3 minutes.

Can I make this ahead of time?

This recipe is best served fresh, but leftovers make a delicious lunch the next day.

Can I use chicken thighs?

Yes! Boneless, skinless chicken thighs work wonderfully and stay extra juicy.

Can I add vegetables?

Definitely. Spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, or bell peppers all pair well with the creamy tomato sauce.

You’ll Want This on Repeat

When dinner needs to happen fast but you still want something homemade, this Chicken Tortellini Skillet is one of those recipes you’ll find yourself making again and again. It’s creamy, cheesy, loaded with flavor, and comes together in one pan with minimal effort—exactly the kind of meal busy families can appreciate.

Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken Meatballs

June 6, 2026 by Rachel Leave a Comment

If your evenings feel like a nonstop shuffle between sports practices, summer activities, errands, and figuring out what’s for dinner, this recipe is about to become one of your go-to favorites. These Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken Meatballs are quick, flavorful, protein-packed, and perfect for busy weeknights when you need something easy without sacrificing flavor.

One of my favorite things about using the Instant Pot during the summer months is that it keeps the kitchen cooler compared to turning on the oven. When the temperatures are already climbing outside, the last thing I want is extra heat filling the house. The Instant Pot helps dinner come together quickly while keeping cleanup simple too.

These buffalo chicken meatballs are tender, juicy, and coated in bold buffalo sauce with a drizzle of ranch dressing on top. Whether you serve them as a quick dinner, game day appetizer, or easy meal prep option, they disappear fast around here.

Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken Meatballs

Why You’ll Love These Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken Meatballs

There are so many reasons this recipe works well for busy families:

  • Ready in about 15 minutes
  • Minimal cleanup
  • Great for meal prep
  • Perfect for parties or appetizers
  • High in protein
  • Easy to customize with your favorite buffalo sauce
  • No need to heat up the oven

The Instant Pot also helps keep the meatballs moist while cooking. Since ground chicken is a lean protein, pressure cooking prevents them from drying out.

Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken Meatballs

Benefits of Cooking with an Instant Pot

The Instant Pot has become one of my favorite kitchen tools because it makes dinner feel manageable on chaotic days. For moms juggling summer schedules, camps, sports, and late evenings, having recipes that cook quickly is a lifesaver.

A few reasons I love using the Instant Pot:

  • Faster cooking times
  • Hands-off cooking
  • Easy cleanup
  • Great for batch cooking
  • Keeps the kitchen cooler in warmer months
  • Consistent results every time

For this recipe specifically, the Instant Pot creates perfectly cooked meatballs in just minutes.

Important Tip for This Recipe

Because ground chicken is softer and leaner than traditional ground beef, these meatballs are cooked on a trivet lined with aluminum foil inside the Instant Pot. The foil helps prevent the meatballs from falling through the trivet while still allowing them to cook properly under pressure.

It’s a simple trick that makes a big difference.

Ingredients You’ll Need

These Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken Meatballs use simple ingredients you may already have on hand:

  • Ground chicken
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Egg
  • Garlic
  • Parsley
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Nature’s Seasoning
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Buffalo sauce
  • Ranch dressing for serving

The buffalo sauce can easily be adjusted depending on how spicy your family likes things.

How to Make Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken Meatballs

Step 1: Mix the Meatball Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings until fully mixed.

Step 2: Form the Meatballs

Using a spoon or cookie scoop, form the mixture into evenly sized meatballs. Try not to make them too large so they cook evenly.

Step 3: Prepare the Instant Pot

Cover your trivet with aluminum foil before placing the meatballs on top. Add 1½ cups of water to the bottom of the Instant Pot, then carefully lower the trivet inside.

Step 4: Pressure Cook

Lock the lid and set the Instant Pot to high pressure for 7 minutes. Once cooking is complete, carefully do a quick release.

Step 5: Coat in Buffalo Sauce

Transfer the cooked meatballs to a bowl and toss with buffalo sauce until evenly coated.

Step 6: Serve

Serve immediately with ranch dressing drizzled on top or on the side for dipping.

Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken Meatballs
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb of ground chicken
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of parsley
  • 1 teaspoon of Natures Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic, minced
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup of buffalo sauce (more or less to your liking)
  • Ranch or Bleu Cheese dressing (optional)

Instructions

INGREDIENTS:

  1. In a medium sized bowl, mix together all of your ingredients for your meatballs.

  2. Using a spoon, or a cookie scoop, scoop out small portions of meat and roll into a ball using the palm of your hand. Make sure that you don’t make the meatballs too large, so they cook evenly.
  3. Please each meatball on your trivet that is covered in aluminum foil. Because the meat is a much leaner protein, using aluminum foil will make sure that they don’t fall through the trivet while cooking.
  4. Once all of your meatballs are formed into balls and placed on the trivet, pour one and a half cups of water into your instant pot. Place the trivet inside.
  5. Close and lock the lid on your instant pot and close the ceiling valve. Set your instant pot to high pressure for 7 minutes.
  6. Once they are done cooking, do a quick release by pulling the valve open to release the pressure. Transfer the trivet onto a plate or flat surface and allow them to cool.
  7. In a medium size bowl, place 1/4 cup (more or less to your liking) Buffalo sauce on top of your meatballs. Mix well until each meatball is coded in the sauce.
  8. Transfer your meatballs to your serving dish. You can serve with ranch sauce on the side, or you can squeeze ranch dressing on top of each meatball. Enjoy!

Serving Ideas

These buffalo chicken meatballs are incredibly versatile. Here are a few easy ways to serve them:

  • As an appetizer for parties or game day
  • Over rice
  • With roasted vegetables
  • Inside slider buns
  • On top of salads
  • Alongside celery and carrot sticks

They also reheat well, making them perfect for lunches throughout the week.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use ground turkey instead of ground chicken?

Yes! Ground turkey works well in this recipe and cooks similarly in the Instant Pot.

Can I make these less spicy?

Absolutely. Simply reduce the amount of buffalo sauce or use a mild buffalo sauce.

Do I have to use foil on the trivet?

Yes, for this recipe it’s highly recommended. Ground chicken is softer than beef, and the foil helps keep the meatballs from slipping through the trivet during cooking.

Can I freeze these meatballs?

Yes. Store them in an airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months. However, if you’re planning to freeze, refrain from coating all of the meatballs with the buffalo sauce until thawed and ready to serve.

Add This to Your Meal Rotation

These Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken Meatballs are one of those recipes that make busy nights feel just a little easier. They come together quickly, use simple ingredients, and work for everything from weeknight dinners to party appetizers.

If you’re looking for a fast dinner option that delivers big flavor without a lot of effort, this recipe is definitely worth adding to your rotation.

Instant Pot Pot Roast (Low Carb & Family Friendly)

May 18, 2026 by Rachel Leave a Comment

There’s something about a hearty pot roast that instantly makes the house feel cozy. But as a busy mom, I don’t always have hours to babysit a roast in the oven all afternoon. That’s exactly why this Instant Pot Pot Roast has become one of my favorite easy family dinners.

It has all the comfort-food flavor of a traditional Sunday pot roast — tender beef, savory broth, soft potatoes, and carrots. But made in a fraction of the time thanks to the Instant Pot. It’s the kind of meal that feels comforting without requiring a full day in the kitchen.

Even better? The leftovers are amazing for busy weeknights, meal prep lunches, or quick dinners after sports practice and activities.

Instant Pot Pot Roast

Why Use an Instant Pot for Pot Roast?

If you’ve ever wondered whether an Instant Pot is really worth it for recipes like pot roast, the answer is absolutely yes.

Here’s why busy families love using the Instant Pot for this recipe:

  • Faster cooking time: Traditional pot roast can take 4–8 hours. The Instant Pot gives you fork-tender beef in about 90 minutes.
  • Hands-off cooking: Once everything is in the pot, the pressure cooker does the work for you.
  • Tender meat every time: Pressure cooking helps break down tougher cuts of beef like chuck roast into juicy, flavorful bites.
  • One-pot meal: Meat, potatoes, carrots, and broth all cook together for easy cleanup.
  • Perfect for busy weeknights: You can prep dinner quickly and still serve a comforting homemade meal.

For moms juggling school pickups, sports, homework, and everything in between, this recipe is a lifesaver.

Instant Pot Pot Roast

Instant Pot Pot Roast Recipe

Cook Time: 1 hour 30 minutes (including natural release time)
Total Time: 1 hour 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1.5-pound beef chuck roast, cut in half
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 large onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tablespoon tomato paste

  • 8.5 oz baby carrots
  • 1-pound russet potatoes, cubed
Instant Pot Pot Roast

How to Make Instant Pot Pot Roast

Step 1: Sear the Roast

Turn your Instant Pot to sauté mode. Once heated, add olive oil and sear the roast on all sides until browned. This step adds so much flavor to the final dish.

Remove the roast and set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Onions and Garlic

Without removing the oil, add the diced onions to the Instant Pot. Cook for 3–4 minutes until softened and slightly caramelized.

Add the garlic and stir well. Press the cancel button to turn off sauté mode.

Step 3: Build the Flavor

Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste to the pot. Stir everything together well.

Place the roast back into the broth mixture and top with fresh thyme sprigs.

Step 4: Pressure Cook the Roast

Seal the Instant Pot lid and make sure the pressure valve is closed.

Cook on high pressure for 1 hour. Once cooking is complete, allow a natural release for 5 minutes before manually releasing the remaining pressure.

Step 5: Add the Vegetables

Open the lid and add the carrots and potatoes. Stir gently so the vegetables are coated in the flavorful broth.

Seal the lid again and cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.

Allow another 10-minute natural release before manually releasing the remaining pressure.

Step 6: Shred and Serve

Transfer the roast to a cutting board and shred with two forks.

You can either return the shredded beef to the Instant Pot and mix everything together, or arrange the roast, potatoes, and carrots on a serving platter for a classic family-style dinner.

Instant Pot Pot Roast

Tips for the Best Instant Pot Pot Roast

Choose Chuck Roast

Chuck roast works best because it becomes incredibly tender under pressure cooking.

Don’t Skip the Sear

Browning the meat first creates deeper flavor and gives the broth a rich taste.

Cut Potatoes Evenly

Uniform potato pieces help everything cook evenly.

Let It Naturally Release

Natural release keeps the meat tender and juicy instead of tough.

Is This Pot Roast Low Carb?

This recipe is lower in carbs than many traditional pot roast recipes because it skips flour, cornstarch, and thick gravy. For an even lower carb option, you can swap the potatoes for:

  • Cauliflower
  • Turnips
  • Radishes
  • Extra carrots and celery

What to Serve with Pot Roast

This Instant Pot pot roast is already a complete meal, but if you want to round out dinner, try serving it with:

  • Side salad
  • Roasted green beans
  • Steamed broccoli
  • Dinner rolls for the kids
  • Mashed cauliflower for a lower carb side

Storage & Leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

This recipe reheats beautifully and tastes even better the next day, making it perfect for meal prep or busy school nights.

  1. Turn your instant pot onto sauté mode. Once it has heated up, add in your oil. Add the roast to your instant pot. Sear the roast on all sides. Once completed, remove and set aside.

  3. Add to your onions and garlic your beef broth, worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste. Mix well.
  4. Add your roast back to the pot on top of the broth mixture. Place one sprig on each roast and place another sprig in the broth.

  7. Add to your pot the carrots and potatoes. Give a little stir into the broth trying to make sure that they are well coated in the liquid.
  8. Close the lid on your instant pot one more time by twisting closed. Close your ceiling valve. Set your instant pot on high pressure for 10 minutes. Once the timer is done, allow it to naturally release for another 10 minutes, then manually release.
  9. Remove the roast to a cutting board. Shred well. You can add the meat back to the instant pot and mix well with your potatoes and carrots, or you can transfer your rose to a serving tray with the potatoes and carrots separately. Enjoy!

Is Great Wolf Lodge Worth It for Families with Big Kids? A Real Weekend Review

March 29, 2026 by Rachel Leave a Comment

Yes, Great Wolf Lodge is absolutely worth it for families with big kids, especially if you want an easy, fun-filled getaway with great food, nonstop activities, and zero stressful planning. We recently spent a weekend at Great Wolf Lodge with kids ages 7–13. It ended up being one of those rare trips where everyone, from the kids to the adults, was fully entertained the entire time. Between the clean, warm indoor water park, surprisingly good dining options, and constant activities happening throughout the day, it felt like a full vacation without the hassle of flights, long lines, or overplanning. If you’re looking for a family getaway that delivers big on experience while keeping things simple, here’s exactly what it’s like and why it works so well for older kids.

What Makes Great Wolf Lodge So Easy for a Family Weekend Getaway?

One of the biggest reasons families love Great Wolf Lodge is how incredibly easy the entire experience is from start to finish. Compared to theme parks, there’s no over-planning, no complicated logistics, and no stress trying to piece together activities. You simply show up and start having fun.

For us, the drive-to convenience was a game changer. No flights, no packing liquids into tiny travel bottles, no airport chaos. We just load up the car and go. It instantly felt more manageable — especially for a quick weekend trip.

All the Family Fun Is Under One Roof at Great Wolf Lodge.

Once you arrive, everything you need is right under one roof. The water park, dining, activities, and your room are all just a short walk away. There’s no coordinating transportation. There’s no leaving the property for meals, and no worrying about keeping everyone entertained because it’s all built in.

Another huge win? There are no rigid schedule and no line-stress culture like you get at larger theme parks. You’re not glued to an app, booking ride times, or racing across a park to make a reservation window. The kids can ride their favorite slides again and again, take breaks when they want, and jump right back in when they’re ready.

And honestly, one of the most underrated perks is that you get two full days of water park access with just a one-night stay. You can start playing as soon as the water park opens on check-in day and stay until closing on check-out day. For a weekend getaway, that’s a ton of value and it makes the trip feel longer without adding extra nights.

Is the Great Wolf Lodge Indoor Water Park Clean, Safe, and Actually Fun for Big Kids?

The indoor water park is obviously the main attraction. But what really stood out to us was how well it The indoor water park is obviously the main attraction and the good news for parents is that it is safe, clean and packed with fun. As parents, what really stood out to us was how well it works for older kids, not just little ones.

There are plenty of slides and attractions that big kids actually get excited about from high-speed body slides to multi-person raft rides that the whole family can do together. It’s the kind of place where even your preteen kids won’t get bored after an hour. They’ll truly want to stay all day.

The large pool and lazy river were constant favorites for our crew. Whether they wanted something more chill or something more active, there was always an option. It made it easy for everyone to find their own version of fun.

From a parent perspective, the cleanliness and safety really stood out. The water park is well-maintained, and there are lifeguards stationed at every major attraction, consistently watching the water. The lifeguards are trained and audited by a nationally known safety organization. Great Wolf Lodge even has a central observation deck that monitors all the pools and lifeguards to ensure nothing is overlooked. When you can tell safety is a priority, it makes it a lot easier to relax and actually enjoy the experience with your kids.

And one of the best features (especially with older kids who go hard and crash fast) is the ability to leave and come back as much as you want. Need a snack break? Want to dry off for a bit? Ready for round two an hour later? No problem. That flexibility makes the day feel a lot less overwhelming and a lot more enjoyable for everyone.

Let’s Talk About the Food (Because It’s Actually Good 👀)

I’ll be honest, when I booked this Great Wolf Lodge weekend getaway, I didn’t have high expectations for the food because it’s a family destination. I assumed it would be the usual “keep the kids fed” situation. But this ended up being one of the biggest surprises of our entire trip.

If you’re wondering is Great Wolf Lodge worth it for older kids (and their parents), the food alone honestly plays a bigger role than you’d think.

There are full-service dining options with genuinely good, high-quality meals, not just burgers and fries on repeat. We’re talking about things like steak, salmon, pasta, and fresh, well-prepared dishes that feel like an actual restaurant experience. It made a huge difference, especially on a Great Wolf Lodge family trip with older kids, where everyone has opinions and expectations when it comes to meals.

Where to eat at Great Wolf Lodge

There are plenty of quick-service options that are fast without feeling like total junk food. Whether you’re grabbing something in between water slides or sitting down for a full meal, you’re not stuck compromising on quality or convenience.

Regardless of which location you visit, you’ll find the following options:

If you don’t want to leave the water park for lunch, Buckets Burgers & Bites is located right inside and serves quick, family-friendly meals like burgers, chicken tenders, salads, fries, snacks, and desserts. It’s a convenient option because you can eat quickly and head right back to the slides and pool. To be completely honest, these are my kids favorite French fries of all time! This location is perfect for grabbing a quick bite and bringing it back to your cabana.

Another easy dining option at Great Wolf Lodge is the pizza and take-out restaurant located right inside the lodge. This is a great option for families who want something quick, filling, and easy after a long day at the water park. The menu includes Brooklyn-style hand-stretched pizza, wings, pasta, salads, garlic cheese bread, sodas, and adult beverages, so it works well for both kids and adults. One of the best parts is the online and in-app ordering and quick pick-up. This makes it really easy to grab dinner and take it back to your room for a relaxing break before heading back out for evening activities.

The Best Dining Option at Great Wolf Lodge

One of the best dining options at Great Wolf Lodge is the on-site full-service restaurant. It’s perfect for when you want a full meal without leaving the resort. The restaurant serves breakfast and dinner with a wide variety of options, from farm-fresh eggs, bacon, stuffed French toast, and fresh fruit in the morning to burgers, ribs, pasta, seafood, steaks, salads, and desserts in the evening. You can get your favorite handhelds, like burgers or chicken sandwiches. Or you can order my favorite, the chili lime chicken bowl. This dining option is a favorite of ours because we all find something we like, but we are also able to sit and enjoy our time away over a fantastic meal.

And let’s not skip one of the best parts for parents, the cocktails and drinks. After a full day in the water park, being able to grab a fun drink without leaving the resort felt like a small luxury that made the whole experience feel a little more like an exotic vacation.

What really makes it work, though, is how easy everything is. Everything is right there, which is exactly why a Great Wolf Lodge weekend getaway feels so much more manageable.

One final thing I appreciated, especially if you’re planning a Great Wolf Lodge with big kids trip, is the flexibility. Everyone can eat when they’re hungry. They can take breaks when they need to, and you’re not locked into a rigid dining schedule. It keeps the entire day flowing so much better.

What is the Best Food and Fun Pass at Great Wolf Lodge? (Worth Adding When You Book)

Pro tip — add the Ultimate Food and Fun Pass when you book your stay. This add-on bundles together dining credits, refillable soda sippers, and access to attractions like MagiQuest, mini golf, bowling, and more. Instead of constantly pulling out your wallet for snacks, games, and activities, a lot of those extras are already included, which makes the trip feel much more all-inclusive. It also helps avoid the surprise costs that can add up quickly on family trips, especially at big theme park destinations. If you’re planning a Great Wolf Lodge weekend with big kids who want to do all the activities, this pass can be a really convenient way to simplify the trip and save money compared to buying everything separately during your stay.

Bottom line: the food at Great Wolf Lodge isn’t just convenient, it’s actually good. And when you combine that with everything else the resort offers, it’s a big part of what makes the whole experience feel easy, enjoyable, and genuinely worth it.

Why Kids Never Get Bored at Great Wolf Lodge: Everything You Need to Know Beyond the Water Park

One thing that really surprises people is how much there is to do outside of the water park. The water park may be the main attraction, but it’s definitely not the only thing keeping kids busy.

What Other Activities are Available at Great Wolf Lodge

Throughout the day and evening, there are organized activities happening all over the lodge. From dance parties and interactive games to character appearances and shows, there’s always something going on. The nighttime entertainment ended up being one of the highlights for our kids. The dance parties were high-energy and really well organized. Our kids loved being part of the action instead of just watching something.

The additional attractions like MagiQuest, the arcade, bowling, mini golf, and other interactive games are especially great for older kids. This is where Great Wolf Lodge works so well for families with kids of all ages. They’re old enough to explore a little, play games, do quests, and stay entertained even when they’re not swimming.

What I loved most as a parent was that the entire resort is designed so kids are never just standing around saying “I’m bored.” There’s always another activity, another game, another event, or another place to explore. It makes the whole trip feel very full without feeling stressful or over planned.

Are Great Wolf Lodge Rooms Comfortable for Families with Big Kids?

After spending all day at the water park, having a comfortable room to come back to makes a huge difference. And this is another area where Great Wolf Lodge really works well.

The rooms are spacious, clean, and designed for families. Which means you’re not all squeezed into a tiny hotel room stepping over suitcases. Depending on the room type, there are separate sleeping areas, bunk beds, couches, and plenty of space for everyone to spread out and relax.

This was especially important for us with our older kid. Little kids will crash anywhere, but big kids and teenagers definitely appreciate having their own space to wind down, watch TV, play games, or just relax for a bit before heading back out for evening activities.

Another huge perk is how close the rooms are to everything. If someone needs a break, a snack, or just some quiet time, it’s easy to run back to the room for a bit and then head back out. That flexibility makes the entire weekend feel much more relaxed and manageable.

Why a Great Wolf Lodge Vacation Feels Like a “Big Trip” Without the Stress of One

One of the best ways I can describe Great Wolf Lodge is that it feels like a big vacation. Just without all the stress of planning a big vacation.

There are so many things that normally make family trips exhausting. From flights, packing restrictions, to rental cars. Then over planning every day, and trying to make sure everyone is having fun at the same time.

At Great Wolf Lodge, none of that exists.

You drive there, check in, and immediately start having fun. Everything is in one place – water park, food, entertainment, activities, and your room. You don’t have to plan every hour of your day because there’s always something happening. No need to worry about transportation. You don’t have to drag tired kids across a giant park at the end of the day.

It’s the kind of trip that feels big and exciting for kids, but easy and relaxing for parents. Honestly that’s a pretty rare combination.

Is Great Wolf Lodge Good for Kids of all Ages?

If you’re specifically wondering whether Great Wolf Lodge is good for big kids, the answer is absolutely yes.

In fact, I would argue that Great Wolf Lodge with big kids might actually be the sweet spot age for this trip.

Kids in the 7–13 range are tall enough and brave enough for the bigger water slides, independent enough to enjoy activities like MagiQuest and the arcade, and still young enough to fully enjoy the dance parties, shows, and themed atmosphere.

They can spend hours at the water park, take breaks for food or games, go back for more swimming, and then still have energy for evening activities. It’s nonstop fun without feeling like everything is designed only for toddlers.

Older kids also really appreciate the independence of the resort layout. Everything is close together and easy to navigate. It gives them a little freedom while still being in a very family-focused environment. And, as a parent, I felt totally comfortable with this level of well-confined freedom.

Tips for Visiting Great Wolf Lodge with Older Kids

If you’re planning a trip to Great Wolf Lodge with little and big kids, here are a few tips that will make your trip even better:

1. Arrive early on check-in day
You can use the water park the day you check in, even before your room is ready. Pack a swim bag so you can start playing right away.

2. Plan for two water park days
With one overnight stay, you get access to the water park on both check-in day and check-out day. Plan to stay after check-out and spend time at the water park. In this case, have a ‘dry bag’ ready for the ride home.

3. Consider the Food and Fun Pass
If your kids want to do MagiQuest, arcade games, sweets, and other activities, the pass makes things easier and a better value.

4. Bring flip flops and cover-ups
You’ll be walking between the water park, restaurants, and activities a lot. The water park is warm, but the halls between the park and your room can get chilly.

5. Don’t over-schedule
One of the best parts of Great Wolf Lodge is that you don’t need a strict plan. Just let the kids choose activities and go with the flow.

6. Stay for the evening activities
The nighttime shows and dance parties ended up being some of our kids’ favorite parts of the trip.
