Some days I think about how quickly my kids are growing up. But, shortly thereafter, I’m reminded that they are still very much little kids. Mostly by their meal choices. My middle kid is extraordinarily picky. My kids are also very small. So it’s a constant juggle between making them eat what we eat, but also making sure they are actually eating, period. One of my six-year-olds favorite foods is hot dogs. Recently she discovered pretzel hot dogs and she is obsessed. But it turns out those frozen pretzel hot dogs are really expensive. Too expensive, honestly. So I decided to try making our own. And they are incredible! Your whole family is going to love these air fryer pretzel dogs!

What You’ll Need
If you haven’t invested in an air fryer yet, what’s stopping you?! I promise, you will use it a lot more than you think! When my husband first brought ours home I thought, “Great, another appliance to take up space on our counter.” And I swore that I would move it from the counter and out of sight after each use. But, I have to tell you — we use it at minimum twice a day. Minimum! If you’re on the fence, check this one out.

Here’s what else you’ll need:
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 3/4 tsp Active rise yeast
- 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp sugar
- 8 hot dogs
- 2 tbsp butter (melted)
- pretzel salt
- cooking spray (for air fryer basket)
Easy peasy! So what are you waiting for?!

Air Fryer Pretzel Dogs

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 3/4 tsp Active rise yeast
- 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp sugar
- 8 hot dogs
- 2 tbsp butter (melted)
- pretzel salt
- cooking spray (for air fryer basket)
Instructions
INGREDIENTS -
- Mix together your warm water and yeast. Let sit for five minutes.
- In a large bowl add your flour, salt, and sugar. After the five minutes for your water and yeast, add this to your flour mixture.
- Using your hands, or a dough hook, knead the dough for one minute until it forms a ball.
- Transfer the dough ball to a lightly floured flat surface such as a clean kitchen counter or cutting board. Divide the ball into eight sections.
- Take each section and roll the dough into a long rope from 15 to 20 inches depending on the size of your hotdog.
- Twist the rope around your hotdog four times. Pinch the ends of the rope to another piece of the pretzel rope so that your pretzel rope stays secure on the dog.
- Spray the basket of your air fryer with cooking spray. Add your pretzel dog to the basket of your air fryer. It depends on the size of your air fryer how many pretzel dogs you can fit at once, just make sure to not overcrowded as the pretzel will expand.
- Spray each pretzel dog with cooking spray lightly.
- Cook your pretzel dogs for five – seven minutes at 390° or until lightly browned on top.
- Once done cooking, brush with melted butter, and add pretzel salt.
- Remove from the air fryer basket onto a serving plate and enjoy! Best served with mustard, ketchup, cheese dipping sauce, or spicy mustard
