Last year I was all “Yay Valentine’s Day!” and this year I’m all “Yay – but OMG – I don’t have any TIME to make crafty cards!”

So this morning I thought I’d share my go-to easy (and YUMMY!) Valentine’s Day Strawberries + Cream Puppy Chow recipe. It’s EASY! So quit looking at Pinterest for the cutest and most clever things you can do. Stick with easy. Real moms only have time for easy, anyways. 😉

You’re welcome. 😉

Valentine’s Day Puppy Chow

Serves 3
Prep time 35 minutes
Meal type Snack
Misc Child Friendly
Occasion Valentines day

Ingredients

  • 5 cups Chex Rice Cereal
  • 3/4 cups Strawberry Cake Mix, boxed
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 16oz White Chocolate (Separated in half (8 oz & 8 oz))
  • M&Ms (Valentines Day Variety)

Directions

Step 1
Put half of the Rice Chex into a bowl or large ziploc freezer bag. Set the other half aside in another bowl/large ziploc freezer bag.
Step 2
Melt half of the white chocolate with either a double-boiler or in the microwave (if using microwave, please see instructions on bag). Very quickly (and very gently) pour and fold the chocolate over the cereal to coat evenly. Quickly use the powdered sugar to cover the chocolate covered chex cereal.
Step 3
Melt the remaining white chocolate and add red food coloring until it reaches a desirable pink hue. Very quickly (and gently) pour the melted chocolate over the remaining chex cereal and coat evenly. Quickly use the strawberry cake mix to cover the chocolate covered chex cereal.
Step 4
Allow the cereal to dry completely and then mix together. Add in the Valentine's M&Ms as desired!
Step 5
Give to friends & family to enjoy! Package in adorable Valentine's Day takeout containers!

Disclaimer: By no means is this a “clean” recipe. However — it’s not for YOU to eat… it’s for you to giveaway for other people to enjoy (if you’re concerned)! Ha!

I see Strawberry Cake Mix listed twice in the ingredient list, but nowhere in the directions. What do you do with it?

So sorry about that! I’m not certain how the recipe got altered since the original publication! I’ve corrected it.

My daughter would love to eat something called “puppy chow!” lol! I love the “real moms only have time for easy” part. Next year when my daughter’s in school, her classmates are all getting store-bought cards!

I wish I had found this a few days ago. It would have been to give to friends at church.

Blessings,
